Sadly, I downloaded it.

However, after reading posts, I'm under the impression I should remove it/delete it before it can install.

Can you help me please? (I'm without any young people in my home, which leaves me at quite the disadvantage!!)

Thank you!!

I am desperate for help on this - I'm a bit scared that either too much time will go by & my system will reboot & install this so-called update or FireFox will crash & reboot.

'''PLEASE help me!!'''

If In Doubt, Throw It Out

. Whenever you get a message / popup that software / files need to be updated;

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS

While this may be a legitimate message, it could also be Malware or a Virus. Any time you want or need to check for upgrades, go to the website of the True Owner of the program in question. For example, to check out Firefox, go to https://www.mozilla.org {web link}

You can report such a site at; Google Report Phishing Page {web link} which is the same when done while on site by going to Help > Report Web Forgery

Can you say what the file-name is exactly?

There is websites poping up each day claiming of a urgent Firefox update and trying to trick inexperienced Firefox and or Windows users into downloading a fake firefox-update-js file and running it before scanning it first.

This however only targets Firefox users on Windows and not Mac OSX or Linux. You would be the first if you got this with Firefox on a Mac.

Thank you BUT as I indicted, it downloaded, and it said it will install on reboot of FireFox.

And yes, I'm on a Mac using OS X Yosemite Ver 10.10.5

Hoping to hear back quickly (because it's almost time for bed!) - Thank you!!

P.S. - it was white horizontal thin box stating urgent update (as I recall). And yes, I was foolish to click on it and only after I did it did I say to myself, what did you do?? I've looked in my downloads and don't see anything from today. I'm asking for guidance as to where else to look to see if anything is waiting to be downloaded -

Again, thank you.
