Hey There!

Trying to access youtube on work computer. Sometimes it works and will run for a bit, but eventually it always reverts to "secure connection failure." If I wait some time, it will come back for a bit.

I've gone through the trouble shoot. Changed the SSL stapling from true to false. Deleted cert8.db. Input security.tls.insecure_fallback_hosts to the website domain. Nothing seems to have a positive lasting effect!

Is this something the employer has implemented to block the site? If so, how come it works some times, but not others?

If you can't inspect the certificate via Advanced (I Understand the Risks) then try this:

Open the "Add Security Exception" window by pasting this chrome URL in the Firefox location/address bar and check the certificate:

  • chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul

In the location field of this window type or paste the URL of the website with the https:// protocol prefix (https://xxx.xxx).

  • retrieve the certificate via the "Get certificate" button
  • click the "View..." button to inspect the certificate in the Certificate Viewer

You can inspect details like the issuer and the certificate chain in the Details tab of the Certificate Viewer. Check who is the issuer of the certificate.

Thank-you cor-el,

Unfortunately the chrome link wouldn't supply me with any information upon entering the website into the text box.

This leads me to believe the company is intercepting with their own certificate to block the webpage.

Still, weird that it works sometimes and not others. Any insight into why this occurs?

Any ways to get around this security?
