Mac 10.6.8 - Flash Needs to be Enabled on Every Restart - How do I set Flash to simply stay on?

I think the Question says it all - (except I'm not going to El Capitan unless it is the only option, even though my system works OK with it - but just OK as opposed to fantastic with OS 10.6.8 - I do have El C on a partition, but it truly messes with my Time Machine and internet, so I prefer to avoid it).

Since 46, every time I log in, all of the stuff that uses Flash needs me to "check plug-ins" and then reactivate Flash. According to Abode I'm up to date on Flash.

Any way to keep the "Always Use" option working when I restart, or is there another plug-in that will do the trick?

hi philbjr, that was a bug with the betterprivacy addon. please update it to the latest version: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/betterprivacy/versions/

That Better Privacy addition does not work - it will not even load, and Flash still won't open even with that update installed.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Try to delete the pluginreg.dat file in the Firefox Profile Folder and maybe addons.sqlite as well to reset the plugin registry databases.

See Re-initializing the plugins database:

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

Try as one might try - no joy.

Either Better Privacy works or Flash works.

I really need both, but don't want to upgrade on a permanent basis to El Capitan.

Any ideas?

I've done all I can think of - still the Flash plug-in will not start.

How do I make "Always" actually be always on restart?

The issue persists. If I quit FF, all is well when I restart, but if I shut down the computer, the next time I log in, I need to reactivate Flash. Everything appears up to date, and removing the files referenced above does not solve the issue. Any other suggestions?
