Need to "create" new Home Page and haven't a clue. MyWay is quitting.

MyWay has provided my Home Page for years, and they are now closing down. I hate to sound like an idiot, but I have no clue how to start from scratch -- or even if I HAVE to do so -- to have another opening page when I start up Firefox -- where I've also been for years. Below is my current home page which I liked.

I am not using any social media sites, so they are not what I want or need. Is there another entity similar to MyWay available? I'd appreciate any help you care to give me, and thanks.

Hi Jean, you have many options when it comes to a startup page, or multiple startup pages.

If you like the idea of a portal where you pick various bits and pieces of content, you could consider "My Yahoo" which you can see here:

https://my.yahoo.com/

If you do not already have a Yahoo account, of course it is free to create one, and you do not need to change your preferred email just because you have a new one there.

Many sites popped up when the "iGoogle" service was discontinued, so one way to search for other options is to search for iGoogle alternatives.

If you don't need so much going on on your home page, you could choose a site you use to search, or even Firefox's built-in home page (to see that, type or paste about:home in the address bar and press Enter to load it).

Normally you can change your home page on the Options page here: Startup, home page, tabs, and download settings.

However, if you currently use a MyWay add-on, it may continue to show that home page even if you change your settings. In that case, you will need to disable or remove the extension before you can regain control of your home page. You can do that on the Add-ons page, either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right side, disable anything unknown/unrecognized, or nonessential, and remove anything you know you're done with.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Let us know how you do.
