Did you check the Properties of that shortcut to see what it is doing?

No. What am I looking for?

What is the content of the target field of that shortcut?

C:\Users\Linda\AppData\Local\Chromium\Application\chrome.exe

That is an unusual location for a program.

Did you check this program with your security (anti-virus) software?

Do you see this program in the Windows Control Panel?

You can check in "Windows Control Panel > Programs" for recently installed programs.

  • Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Uninstall or change a program
  • Click the Installed column to sort by this heading

I ran the security scan. Found one Trojan and some adware. Deleted all. Program is still running and can not delete with Uninstall. It was and is in the windows control panel. I don't know what it is or does. Looks similar to google.

You are not answering my question. If I download FireFox why is this program attached? What is it and how do I get rid of it. I wouldn't have this problem if I didn't download FireFox.

See:

Did you download Firefox from the Mozilla server?

If you download a program elsewhere then you can never be sure that it doesn't come with unwanted extras.

This does not come with any Firefox versions for Windows, Mac OSX or Linux from www.mozilla.org or www.mozilla.org/firefox/all

Just because you notice it after does not mean it came with Firefox.

It wasn't on my machine until I downloaded FireFox. I opened no other programs or search engines. You may believe it wasn't attached but somehow it was and I can not get rid of it. I will reset my computer to a past date. FireFox will be removed. I will attempt to download FireFox again. If it comes back with this program again. There will be no question that it was attached to FireFox.

Where did you download Firefox?

Your computer was infected by some method outside of the Firefox web browser.

You have yet to say where you downloaded Firefox from as there are some fake Firefox download sites, especially if you go to a Ad link on search engines like Google or Bing.

If this claim was indeed true then this thread would not be the only result in a search for Cassiopesa in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/search/advanced#support .Also was no mention of it at the active independent forums.mozillazine.org

Mozilla does not bundle any crap with Firefox as it would hurt them far too much for what little gain.

I have been using firefox for years - this cassiopesa site just replaced it without my downloading anything, between one use and another (maybe 4 or 5 days had gone by between my using my computer...). so I uninstalled my firefox and it went into my husbands google chrome, didn't replace it just shows up as a second screen every time you open chrome, and when I tried to download a fresh Firefox from the official mozilla.org website, it came up as cassiopesa again, no firefox. help!
