I have had intermittent problems with download failures. Today I tried a Sony A99 firmware update and it failed twice. I gave up Fire fox and used IE. Result was quick and my camera has the newest Version.

Exactly! It is the purpose of the Support to resolve issues, not to deny them. It is frustrating when observations are simply ignored.

I'll pass on your observations to the Mozillian developers and hope that work on any subsequent updates will include improving the issue.

For now that ends this thread, so could you kindly flag the discussion as resolved so that the thread is properly filed.

The point of my inquiry was missed.

The Sony firmware update download that failed twice using Firefox worked fine, first try using IE.

I am a contributor in here responding to posts as part of the Mozilla volunteers. There is an 'unspoken' notion that we feel obliged to 'defend' Mozilla Firefox, even when it is at fault, which is not what we are really about. We are about listening to our users and seeking to help them while at the same time seeking to improve the Open Source software of the Firefox browser.

I have experienced exactly the same problem that you outline, with exactly the same success with other browsers where Firefox has failed. I will raise your question with the Mozillian developers.

I would like to say that Firefox, because it is not for profit and is open source, can be relied upon not to be tracking your every move, not to be on-selling info' regarding the pages you surf, nor your email address and its tight security on the world wide web is more often than not the reason our internet experience with it is not always as seamless as it might be.

So, the point is that your feedback is important for Mozillians to improve Firefox that it may prove to be not only the safer and more secure browser, which it already is, but also become more user friendly than its competitors.

Thank you for your post.

If I and others don't point out problems how can we expect a fix?

I thank you for the above comment.

I am not alone!
