Hi dtl131, There was a delay in the update, but the issue was fixed in version 37.0.1. Does this still happen on the release channel for you?

@guigs2: I don't see anything in the release notes indicating it was fixed in 37 or 37.0.1

@FredMcD: That is what I normally do, but this has been happening for a long time on this specific system (since I first installed FF on it when the laptop was new a few years ago). I'm getting tired of jumping through the extra hoop and I just want the auto-updater to work,

I shouid also mention that a complete uninstall and fresh install doesn't help. I suspect something is screwed up with the user profile, but since it's my mom's system, I don't want to mess with her personal preferences/bookmarks too much.

BTW, it's currently on 36.0.4

You might want to be glad. There are tightened security rules that may block HTTPS links even for certificates you have already stored and exceptions you have already added.

As a test, create a blank new user profile. Do not change it, but use it. Are you still having problems?

It would be best to have the full path so if you had placed the untared contents in a folder in /home it would be /home/<username>/foldername/firefox/firefox –P An easy way would be not to do it in a terminal but in say a launcher since you have to point it to the firefox script in Firefox folder you can then add –P on end. You can also have the exact "profilename" after the -P so Firefox will start with that Profile.
