Hello thegoodman,

You can't delete plugins from within Firefox. On the right you will see a drop down box, you can change that from "Ask to Activate" to "Never Activate" which will disable the plugin.

To remove a plugin you need to go to Control Panel->Programs and Features and Uninstall the program which added the plugin.

Since you mentioned that the Add-ons are suspicious you might want to scan for malware. Take a look at this article Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware

Let us know if that solves your problem. -Curtis

Well said.

The Appearance part of the Add-ons manager is normally for the Themes you installed whether complete or lightweight (essentially toolbar wallpaper).

Plugins like Flash, Java and such are not installed in Firefox but on system regardless whether it is Windows, Mac OSX or Linux. Firefox just make use of compatible ones so the activate/deactivate just tells Firefox to use it or not.

I'm having the same issue. However, everyone is neglecting to say... SOME OF THE PLUG-INS DON'T SIT IN THE *REMOVE PROGRAMS MENU OF WINDOWS! Now that's been said: If Mozilla wishes we continue using the browser and not give them a bad name...I suggest this: GIVE US A REMOVE PLUG-IN BUTTON THAT IS RIGHT UP FFRONT THAT WE CAN EASILY FIND...YOU UPDATE EVERYTHING ELSE...WHY NOT GIVE US WHAT WE WANT...YOU SURE ASK FOR MONEY A WHOLE LOT....SO MAYBE GIVE BACK A LITTLE....

  thanks.....

As was said the Plugins (like Flash, Java, Quicktime and such) are Not installed in Firefox like Extensions and Themes are. This is why there is no remove button and only deactivate/activate which tells Firefox to make use of it or not. Firefox scans the system and makes use of compatible ones.

To see what Plugins your Firefox is using and where the Plugins are located. Type about:plugins in the Location (address) bar.

Mozilla does not charge any amount of money for any version of desktop Firefox whether for Windows, Mac OSX or Linux. The Firefox Releases are free to download and use from www.mozilla.org/firefox/all and you can download the source to build it yourself.

if you paid for a Firefox version from some download site then you were scammed.
