Please update to the most recent version of Firefox:

• Update Firefox to the latest release

Does this happen in Safe Mode? Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

• Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

• On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.

Do any of the hangs culminate in a slow script error dialog?

If you have modified the time to let scripts run before displaying that dialog, you might want to undo that change for diagnostic purposes. Here's how:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste script and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If either of the following preferences is bolded a "user set" you can reset them to default values by right-clicking them and choosing Reset:

• dom.max_chrome_script_run_time
• dom.max_script_run_time

One reason the Flash plugin could trip this error is the Protected Mode feature of the plugin. That feature has security benefits, but seems to have compatibility issues on some systems. You can disable it by creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different approaches for that:

Thanks for the copy and paste reply, yes I have done all of these listed. As I stated, I have looked through a bunch of pages on here and the Adobe forums with no helpful answers. I updated to FF 35 and now 36, and it still has no difference what-so-ever. Also, Safe Mode does nothing.

I have used FF for a very long time, and this is only a recent issue after I updated both FF and Flash a while back. If I can't fix this I may just have to go to Chrome, but I REALLY don't want to have to do that.

I've done all of these except the mms.cfg safemode one, since it auto-deletes the line ProtectedMode=0 everytime I try to put it in. The only one it works in is sysWOW64, not the 32. It hasn't made any difference either.

Yes, a third of the time it will give me the slow script error. Sometimes it just hangs, sometimes it full on crashes. Sometimes the plugin container itself crashes, and sometimes the Flash Player plugin crashes. So I have no idea. Same with the last response, protected mode doesn't do anything. Plus, it won't save it in 32, only the 64 folder. (system32 and sysWOW64, respectively)

Also, I added the 5 newest *crashes* to the top. But, I'll add them here as well.

Yeah I saw that. I've been on the fence about just using that. But if it continues on as it is, I may just try it. Thanks for trying.

This add-on will prevent Flash from running until you want it to; Flash block {web link} Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it

I have the same problem. Flash Player hangs EVERYTIME. I have tried all the recommendations in the forum (safe mode, refresh, disable extensions, disable hardware acceleration....) and still have the problem. Here's my crash reports , any advise will be appreciated

So, I've been having this issue for sometime now. Check windows #system# firewall "allow application through a firewall". When downloading FF vs 38.0.5 from Mozilla site; It doesn't appear on the the windows firewall through list by default . I included it and now works a treat, unless it's decoy fix for something else.. Someone must confirm this.
