Hi there,

Last week I switched from Windows to Mac and I am having problems with Firefox lately... When I close my Firefox-Browser via the "close-button" (red cross in the upper left corner) and reopen it via the Firefox-Icon in the dock I loose all my tabs :(

I first thought I forgot to turn it on in the settings but then I found out that if I close Firefox via rightclick -> "quit" in the dock and THEN restart it, all my tabs are there just like they should. I guess the problem is that closing the browser window in OSX does not really quit the application like it does in Windows (the window is closed but the application is still running) so it dos not really know how to handle this situation.

I am a Firefox user for more than 10 years and I don't want to switch to chrome, but the current behaviour is just not acceptable for me, because I hate loosing my tabs :(

I hope someone of you can help me fix this problem and continue using the awesome browser Firefox is.

Thank you! Best, Chris

Try this :

1. Make sure that your Firefox home page is set as Firefox default home page (about:home if it is not) 2. When you launch Firefox, just click Restore previous session to find your closed tabs.

You can use Firefox Sync to sync all your preferences on every Firefox browser you use

Hi bosskhalif,

thanks for taking the time and answer, but your suggestions are not what I am looking for. The default home page is set, but "Restore previous session" does not appear after closing the browser-window because it didn't crash.

I can restore my tabs by going to the chronic, but that is a very tedious way to just get back my tabs...

I just want Firefox to save my tabs when closing the browser-window :(

Best, Chris

If you close the Firefox window then the Firefox application is still running on Mac (you have the menu bar or the icon on the dock). That is different from Windows where you close Firefox when all open windows are closed. You woulds have to check for History > Recently Closed Tabs/Windows to reopen a closed window.

You need the close the Firefox application when windows that you want to restore on the next start are still open.
