For the last several versions of Firefox, all attempts at PDF downloads fail. On rare occasions I can go to Save As..., get a dialogue box and save the file. But 80+% of the time it just fails and I have to go and paste the URL into Safari to get the file. Every time Ffx. upgrades I think this might get fixed, but it hasn't. I'm running AdBan and Do Not Track Me in both browsers, so that shouldn't be the issue. Please advise.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

Yes, went to the link, What to do if you can't download or save files," and the 2nd step solved the problem--I had moved the folder designated to receive downloads and the chosen path now only led to an alias. Correcting the path to the downloads folder seems to have solved the issue, based on 2 successful tries from different websites. Thanks!
