I want to restore my bookmarks but can't find the .json file in my time machine backup.
In fact, I can't find any folder named "Firefox" in the backup Library's "Application support" folder. Could this be somewhere else? Many thanks.

I managed to recover my bookmarks! OSX Lion automatically hides some folders, also on the backup disk. Follow these instructions to show the hidden files: http://www.macworld.com/article/1051830/showallfinder.html. Copy/paste the latest json file from the bookmarksbackup folder (which is now visible) to your desktop and replace it.

Two possible locations that I am aware of - I'm not a Mac user, though.
~/Library/Mozilla/ ~/Library/Application Support/
Based on this MozillaZine support article. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder
Thanks for the link. I think the problem are hidden files: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders#Mac_OS_X
Sorry, I didn't realize that Mac OSX did that "hiding", too.
Did you find the file you want in the backup?
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
^ how's that gonna help with a time machine backup?
