Why is it that my video, on youtube, lags after a bit?

When I open a video on youtube, the video plays for the first 3-4 seconds, freezes, and then plays normal for the rest of the time. I read some people with the same problem and they disabled their Adblock Plus Add-on. I use that Add-on, but disabling it did nothing. Even restoring Firefox to factory settings did nothing. I even thought it might be the flash player because I was getting an error every time something flash related was brought up. That, also, was not the case. I'm not sure what the problem is and I've had this problem for a while now. I want to fix it quick and I have no idea how.

I did, actually. I don't get the weird flash error thing and the video doesn't hang on youtube anymore. Whatever changed with Java or FF, it fixed my problem.

Hi, You have a second installation of the plugin: Shockwave Flash 11.8 r800 and 14, try to remove the second one and see if the issue continues, or you can try disabling acceleration .

Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See this article for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).

To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:

  1. Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
  2. Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
  3. Click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
  4. Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.

The image "fpSettings1.PNG" does not exist.
  5. Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
  6. Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
  7. Restart Firefox.

This Flash Player Help - Display Settings page has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.

Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

That did not solve my problem. Though, it did help me figure out my video drivers weren't updated. lol After my drivers updated I tried playing a video with and without the box checked for the "Enable hardware acceleration". I still have the same problem.

If it helps, these are the extensions (not add-ons) that I have: Adobe Acrobat 11.0.7.79 Google Talk Plugin 5.4.2.18903 Google Talk Plugin Video Renderer 5.4.2.18903 Google Update 1.3.24.15 Happy Cloud Plugin 1.0.0.1 iTunes Application Detector 1.0.1.1 Java Development Toolkit 7.0.650.20 10.65.2.20 Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U65 10.65.2.20 NVIDIA 3D Vision 7.17.13.4052 NVIDIA 3D VISION 7.17.13.4052 Photo Gallery 16.4.3528.331 Shockwave Flash 14.0.0.145 Silverlight Plug-In 5.1.30514.0 Untiy player 4.3.5.32006 VLC Wb Plugin 2.1.3.0
