This is absolutely insane. I set up a email account(also did about a year ago) and I can not get back to my mail. Why in gods name is it so difficult? I have multiple email accounts with most all the major email websites and this one is utterly impossible to use. I just keep ending up in the same spot with no information to help get out of the endless circle. I don't even know if I could find my way back to here. I will give you my email address to try and get something more constructive than the past two days. I want to make mozilla products my main users for all my different platforms to simplify my life but I am having my doubts about thunderbird. So far it is a useless time waster. I'm shocked that this is under the Mozilla name. I normally associate Mozilla with high quality, easy to use products. My goal is to have all the phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops operating on linux and mozilla. Thank you in advance. X@yahoo.com

Hello everyone, I am noticing a strange visual issue since today on my Android device. There is a persistent thick purple outline around the last active tab in the normal tab overview/tray.

    • Device & App Specifications:
        • What I have tried so far (none of it worked):**It looks like a keyboard/accessibility selection focus ring that gets stuck on the active tab tray element and ignores the theme engine.

Is anyone else on Android 16 or Version 151 experiencing this UI bug? Any known workarounds to force-disable this outline? Thanks!

Btw. Chrome is working well. No annoying purple outline as shown on the last picture 🤷🏻♀

Hello,

Despite the fact that I have set Thunderbird to display messages as plain text, my needs are not being fully respected. If the message contains some form of markup, presumably HTML, the font size is not what I have chosen. Generally, the font size is smaller than what I have specified in the Thunderbird settings.

This is unacceptable. It is a usability / accessibility issue. If the user chooses Plain Text and sets a font size, they have done that for a reason. Which is accessibility. If Thunderbird ignores the needs of users and applies styling rules to messages, that is a failure state.

Is there some way to actually, truly, absolutely display all messages as plain text in a specified font, weight, and size? If not, what is the protocol for reaching developers so that they can respond to this issue?

Thank you

Here is a complete **A–Z guide** for setting up an email account in **Mozilla Thunderbird**:

---

    1. 🦅 Mozilla Thunderbird — Complete Email Account Setup (A to Z)

---

      1. **A — Open Thunderbird & Access Account Settings**

Launch Mozilla Thunderbird. For a new install, you will be automatically prompted to enter your existing email account details upon first launch. For an existing install, navigate via **☰ Menu → New Account → Existing Email**. [Mozilla Support](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatic-account-configuration)

---

      1. **B — Gather Required Information First**

Before starting, have ready: - Your **full email address** (e.g., you@example.com) - Your **password** - Your **incoming server** (IMAP or POP3) hostname & port - Your **outgoing server** (SMTP) hostname & port - **SSL/TLS** or **STARTTLS** encryption type

These details can be supplied by your email provider. [Mozilla Support](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/manual-account-configuration)

---

      1. **C — Add a New Mail Account**

At the bottom of the left pane in Account Settings, click the **Account Actions** button and select **Add Mail Account…** [Mozilla Support](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/manual-account-configuration)

---

      1. **D — Enter Basic Account Details**

---

      1. **E — Auto-Configuration Attempt**

Click **Continue**. Thunderbird will check if your webmail provider is available in its database and provide available configuration options. IMAP will be the preferred setting in most cases. [Mozilla Support](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatic-account-configuration)

---

      1. **F — Manual Configuration (if needed)**

If auto-detection fails or you have a non-standard configuration, press **Manual Configuration** and edit the server names, ports, and IMAP/POP settings manually. [Mozilla Support](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/manual-account-configuration)

---

      1. **G — Choose Incoming Protocol: IMAP vs POP3**

IMAP (the more modern protocol) allows you to store messages on the mail server and on your local machine at the same time. The POP protocol only allows messages to be stored locally. [Mozilla Support](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatic-account-configuration)

Common IMAP settings: | Field | Value | |---|---| | Protocol | IMAP | | Port | 993 | | SSL | SSL/TLS |

Common POP3 settings: | Field | Value | |---|---| | Protocol | POP3 | | Port | 995 | | SSL | SSL/TLS |

Common SMTP settings: | Field | Value | |---|---| | Port | 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS) | | Authentication | Normal password or OAuth2 |

---

      1. **I — Set Username**

Set the username to your **full email address** (e.g., username@yourdomain.com). [SiteGround](https://www.siteground.com/tutorials/email/mozilla-thunderbird/)

---

      1. **J — Test Your Settings**

Click **Re-test** to test your manual settings; there should be a quick response indicating the settings are valid. [Mozilla Support](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/manual-account-configuration)

---

      1. **K — Authentication Method**

For modern providers like Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, and AOL, **OAuth2** is used. An OAuth2 window may pop up for modern Outlook accounts — approve the permissions when prompted. [TechyDen](https://techyden.com/thunderbird-email-client-configuration/)

For app passwords (e.g., with 2FA enabled): Go to your Microsoft Account Security settings, find **App passwords** under "Additional security," generate one, and use it in Thunderbird instead of your regular password. [TechyDen](https://techyden.com/thunderbird-email-client-configuration/)

---

      1. **L — Complete Account Creation**

Once you have selected your protocol, click **Done**. Thunderbird will begin to retrieve your folders and messages from your provider — a progress bar will be visible in the lower right of your screen. [Mozilla Support](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatic-account-configuration)

---

      1. **M — Account Identity Settings**

Under Account Settings, you can configure: - **Account name** — appears in the folder pane - **Your Name** — shown in the From field - **Email Address** — appears when sending messages - **Reply-to Address** — if replies should go to a different address - **Organization** — optional field attached to outgoing messages - **Signature text** — appended to your messages [Mozilla Support](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configuration-options-accounts)

---

      1. **N — Server Settings & Message Checking**

You can configure Thunderbird to: - **Check for new messages at startup** - **Check for new messages every __ minutes** (set a time interval) - **Allow immediate server notifications** (IMAP IDLE command) so new messages arrive instantly without polling [Mozilla Support](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configuration-options-accounts)

---

      1. **O — POP3 Tip: Keep Messages on Server**

If using a POP3 incoming server, it's a good idea to select **Leave messages on the server** so a copy of retrieved messages is kept on the server and accessible from other email applications. [Microsoft Support](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/set-up-email-in-mozilla-thunderbird-8-0-f4726a9e-64d3-4494-9260-5762597fd1a6)

---

      1. **P — Deleted Messages Behavior**

---

      1. **S — vCard (Virtual Business Card)**

---

      1. **T — Multiple Identities per Account**

In Thunderbird, you can set up more than one identity per account. Click **Manage Identities** to set up and manage additional identities — each with its own name, address, signature, and outgoing server. [Mozilla Support](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configuration-options-accounts)

---

      1. **U — Multiple Outgoing (SMTP) Servers**

If you have multiple outgoing servers set up, use the **Outgoing Server** menu to choose which server to use with each identity. [Mozilla Support](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configuration-options-accounts)

---

      1. **V — Folder Subscriptions (IMAP)**

All other programs such as Word, Notepad etc. are fine. I am wondering if something in an update has broken it. It also works OK in Chrome
