Until some days ago I could use the add on "Video Downloadhelper" without problems on my old Macbook Air (2017) with OS10.15.7 but suddenly the add on was not available anymore. I purchased a valid license for this add on. In the Firefox adjustments it was mentioned as deactivated. Could you please let me know, how I can activate the Video Downloadhelper again? When firefox releases an update I find out when I try to use my browser for something. Im on the fly paying a bill and I want to get it done but oh its firefox update time and I dont have an instant choice stop that. I have first tell my security system that I dont want to make changes to my software at this moment I wanbt to use the browser for something important to Me. But still firefox wont let me. I have to wait till it processes my denial then comes the irritatin popup about download or dismiss and I have to respond to that wasting more critial moments for me then after a few more precious to me moments firfox will open and let me use it. This irritates the hell out of me and the worst part is if I dont waste more of my time performing the update when firefox chooses it will shanghai my browser all over again every time until I update. The worst thing is sometimes updates comie in rapid succession. Major irritation. How do I stop this? whats the work around here? I want to up date when it suits me not when it suit firefox.

Firefox suddenly has an AI assistant that pops up on a tool bar on the left side of the screen with a green dot beside it. I want to turn this off and make it disappear, if possible. Please tell me how to do that.

With the "Drag & DropZones" mode of the "Selected Text Searchers" extension, one can highlight some text on the page and then "drag" it, whereupon a screen of defined search engines appear as an overlay on the page, allowing for "dropping" of the text on top of any of the search engines, initiating using that search engine to search for the highlighted text. This stops working after 148.0: the search engines overlay does not come up, replaced with only the non-working icon on the mouse cursor.

my account is under [email address] but that is defunct and I can't access it at all. So I can't log in. I can't change to my secondary email which is [email address] Can you help me

My local network is 10.10.10.x and I can't log into my NAS, web server or another computer on the local network... Internet access is fine. Happens on Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

If I access the same web address using Safari or Chrome it works just fine and it used to work before the software update to the 147 build.

So what switch/setting got kicked over during the upgrade that I have to turn off?

These kind of issues really make me mad at the Firefox Dev team... and I'm a very long time user.

Answer: Thanks for flagging this. We’re aware that some parts of the newsletter may not display correctly in Firefox, while they do load in other browsers. Unfortunately, this is a browser-specific issue and not something we’re able to control on our end.

I am in the process of switching from Windows 10 to Linux Mint (Cinnamon 22.3) as my daily operating system. My current Windows version of Firefox is 147.0.2, for Linux it is 147.0.3. installed from the official repository - also known as the Software Manager in Linux Mint. I've configured Firefox exactly the same in both operating systems. Running under Windows when saving a Bookmark, Firefox displays the well known Globe Icon, but after reloading the page the Favicon appears immediately (provided it is available of course). Under Linux Mint this does not happen, even if one restarts Firefox. Only after a system reboot Favicons of revisited pages become visible. Is this a fundamental difference between the Windows and Linux version of Firefox or am I missing something? I've installed the Firefox extension for caching the favicon, but it made no difference, If I run it, still the Icon does not appear until system reboot. I couldn´t find an answer in the help database nor on the Internet in general.

This difference might seem insignificant for most people but for me it is. When shopping on the internet I bookmark a lot of pages of products to be able to make quick comparisons. The Favicon is of great help because it makes it easy to identify the different shops. Of course I could manually change the bookmark name to include the shop name, but Icons are a much better clue and leave more room in the bookmark name for other information.

After many years of using Firefox and then trying other browsers I decided to stick with Firefox now, and immediately I encounter a persistent flaw.

Mainly I browse on chess.com, I mention this because there the thing occurs and I can imagine it is quite a 'complicated' website. Stick with me. I administrate clubs and play chess there so open pages regularly, in new tabs, still generally only three simultaneously.

Every 1 in 5 times the page just gets stuck loading. Only parts appear and the little refresh icon up there doesn't show because the X stays (the one to stop loading the page). This is quite annoying. Simply by refreshing it immediately loads properly. But it is ridiculous to keep having to press F5 every couple of minutes before one can get on. As I also used Beta channel on my win11 machine I figured maybe it's that but after several updates it persisted. Now I am using the Normal channel and a Linux Mint OS and exactly the same keeps happening. I have tried a dozen remedies. Like adding an exception to the enhanced tracking in Firefox and several others and nothing fixed this. Does anyone knows how this happens?

And will Mozilla fix this? Or is it completely at the bottom of priorities because it is site specific?

When a video is popped out, in PiP mode, and the "owning" page is scrolled such that the video "origin" scrolls off the viewport, the PiP video pauses. If the video is started again, and the page is scrolled more, it will re-pause.

This seems to be a Firefox behaviour and not a site-specific one.

Is there a setting to keep the video to continue playing?

This would be helpful on Twitter/X, for example, when scrolling the timeline with a PiP playing from a tweet.

I am unable to sign in to my yahoo mail account. It gives me a fault that "something went wrong, please try another device". I can use brave as my browser and sign in with no problem but not with firefox. Any idea why?
