How do I make Firefox utilize links to internal server files like Internet Explorer and every other browser I've tried will? Is there a unique coding process that must be used? Thanks!

I have an internal "web"site on our intranet site at work. On it we host links to the most used external websites as well as links to the most common servers/folders/files we use on a daily basis. This site works fine with IE, Chrome, etc but with FF (my preference) the links to the internal locations will not pull up the folders/servers/files like the other browsers will. Is there something unique that must happen to enable this?
