Firefox has become borderline unusable since updating to v. 7. This problem did not affect any previous version.

After using the browser for a period of time -- which may be minutes, or may be hours -- the browser simply stops responding. It won't load new pages, but it doesn't give any indication that anything is wrong; it doesn't crash, or say "Firefox has stopped responding", it just says "Connecting to ..." and that's it.

Closing the browser completely and restarting it solves the problem ... until it happens again, within minutes or hours but inevitably.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the browser does not solve the problem. Uninstalling all plugins and add-ons does not solve the problem.

I am using an OEM install of Windows 7. I have made no hardware, software, or configuration changes beyond upgrading Firefox. Clearly THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH FIREFOX, but the Firefox guys blame anything but their own application.

I am beginning the transition to Google Chrome, and am advising against Firefox whenever asked. It saddens me to see this once-great browser become a complete POS.
