I cannot use any google functions except email, no search, shopping, etc. I get 404 error. How to fix?

Trying to use google as a search in the tool bar I get 404 error, but yahoo search works. While in my gmail account, if I click on any of the other google services, eg, shopping, I get 404 error If on the address line, I type in www.google.com, I get 404 error so far I have had no trouble with any other sites. How can I correct this?
