Why is Firefox forcing an update when I don't ask for it?

My update settings for Firefox (Windows) 3.6.17 are set to always ask before updating. However, Firefox is automatically updating to 4.0 without my permission. This machine is in a corporate environment, so it's possible some weird group policy is forcing the update. Is it also possible there's a config setting in Firefox that's messed up, and how can I stop these "forced" updates?
