right now i have FF 3.6.9, says "help/about FF". running in Vista. Auto update asks for permission, once installed I cant connect online through Firefox or IE, proxy is set to none. sometimes it asks me for a dial-up password. in IE's "internet options/connection" it says to use "default broadband connection" (i use cable modem through a router) if I delete FF, download and install new, it wants to update again and the process starts over. in vistas "network settings" it says I AM connected to the internet. however IE and FF will NOT connect. BUT "Windows Media Player" can go online and download movie trailers, etc. task manager confirms throughput traffic on network.

any ideas?

once I've updated i am unable to go online I have to actually "restore system" then i can go online and skip update.
