Default Private Tabs View Defers to Standard

I have been a user of Firefox Android for years, During all this time, I defaulted my Tabs View to the Private Tabs View for higher security. I would only move to a Standard non-Private Tabs View on rare occasions.

Now, suddenly in the past several days, when I select my browser, it no longer defaults to the Private View. Rather, it goes directly to the standard Tabs View and I must select the Private Tabs View manually. This occurs every time I exit my browser and return. Has there been a change recently applied that no longer allows me a Private Tabs View upon selecting my browser? If so, I do not approve. Just say'n Development team - not good! It's a step backwards in the product's design as it applies to user intuitiveness and security. Once set, I liked having my preference for Private Tabs saved without me intervening to manually select the option in every instance.

Hi Bill

Thank you for the feedback. This is something that our developers are aware of and are looking into.

May I ask...

Is this an issue that resulted from a recent version update? If so, some questions come to mind, please...

Comments/Questions:

Since the Developers are aware, I'm certain it may sit in a "break/fix" queue with other possible problems, likely ranked based upon severity (impact) and priority (urgency). Now, truthfully, the impact on the users in terms of numbers is potentially everyone. But, the impact of the "break" may not be any more than an irritation, resulting in only a small disruption of an individual's normal expectations. Also, if it is in a queue with other problems of the same severity level, how should you respond? Does it merit a higher priority with the Firefox user community, indicating greater urgency for the assignment of determination/resolution resources?

Or, is it simply a fix assigned to a developer or developers, ranked only by the date and time of its reporting?

Lastly... and forgive me for asking so many questions...

Does your process commit time and cost to the application of individual break/fix issues between version updates? Or, do you hold such fixes and apply them singularly, or as a bundle, along with normal version improvements?

I am curious, yet also concerned. As I mentioned in my original email, I use my Android device very often to conduct both personal and business matters - frankly more than I could have imagined some years ago. The point, however, is the use of the Private Tab View is actually quite important to me. Constantly having to manually select the Private View is irritatingly disruptive for me. Yikes! Yes, I really did write that.

Bottom line... can you provide any more information other than the Developers are aware of this matter and looking into it? Does that mean they are treating it as a problem to resolve, or are the benefits derived from a version update outweighing the benefit of a single functionality lost in a change? If it is a problem to be resolved, can you say when a fix may be applied?

Very Respectfully, Bill Douglass
