Don't know how to describe the issue. I leave the computer on all night. In the morning, when I move the mouse to activate the screen, there is a large, 3-panel image with links to various websites. Today's panels are titled "Daily Wonder," "Hats Off to the Class of '25," and "Markets." A click on any of these panels takes me to a website. No idea how these panels are produced or by whom. If I try to take a screenshot, the images disappear and my normal home screen is shown. I do not recognize anything in the Task Manager that might explain this. Not sure if this is a Windows issue or a Firefox issue. Perhaps another user can ask me questions that will lead to more information.

Windows 10 version 22H2, OS Build 19045.5854.

Thanks, Cloverdavid

I suggest that you turn off half of the list and see if the issue still occurs, then continue to keep bisecting the list until you can establish which one is causing the issue that you are experiencing.

Paul,

Thanks for your help. I found the problem: that ubiquitous, unwanted, annoying Microsoft Edge wont go away. Just when you think Edge has been silenced, it reappears, like a zombie. I don't know how Edge is re-activated after to has been shut down. I will never use Edge as my browser. I'm going to apply a recommended solution to prevent Edge from loading, and believe it will work.

Many thanks, David

From a very non-technical person: After researching online.... 1) you cannot uninstall Microsoft Edge 2) if somehow you manage to do that, disaster strikes your operating system. 3) Irritating but once your internet connection has stopped, Mozilla will ask if it should be your default. 4) .... that is not a permanent option. Wonder what Microsoft will do next to enforce their Big Brother standing.
