Is there some place from which to download Firefox without having a google account?

We cannot get a google account because our landline neither sends nor receives text messages. We are in process of setting up and testing a cell phone, and would like to load Firefox for Android as the browser. We cannot download from google play because google demands to send a text-message "verification" code. We note, thankfully, that Mozilla does not (stupidly) do likewise to set up a Firefox account.

Hi

You can download the Release version of Firefox for Android from https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/fenix/releases/, but please note that a) it may not update and b) sideloading apps to your Android device turns off an important security control.

Thanks, Paul. I'll give it a try. There seems to be no other alternative if we want to use Firefox. The only other choice is to wait until our cell service is in place with Chrome and all the google tentacles. Then, to download Firefox via Play with whatever encumbrances google wants to add. To me, that seems no less risky for being tracked, surveilled, marketed, and harassed than to follow your suggestion to get Firefox now.

Another place to download the Android Firefox apk's is at https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/releases

The github page this was the place to download the apk's from until they became available on Mozilla server again as of 97.0

Thank you, James, that is helpful to know. But, I have been thinking that because of the security issue, I just might try a different browser -- maybe Vivaldi.

'Decided to go with Firefox. Downloaded latest version from archive. It works fine -- better than Chrome which I disabled -- but, Paul is right, it will not update without Play (Mozilla's choice). Add-ons seem to be working fine. I will plan to watch the archives for newer versions for eventual "updates." Thanks for your help.
