Hi, Every time I delete/ clear all data/ history there are always one shortcut to previously visited webpages on my start page left, Youtube. Open "burger menu" Privacy & Security Cookies and site data --> Clear everything in that section. History --> Clear everything.

Open "burger menu" History --> Clean all previous history -- Clean everything.

But still that shortcut still remain.

I would really appreciate help with this.

It could be one of the bundled shortcuts that you never removed. Those do not depend on your history. Try hovering the button with your mouse to show the ... menu, then click that and "Dismiss" the shortcut. This will add it to a blocklist in your prefs.js file/about:config.

Thank you for answering. Well, yes it could be, but in that case it´s something new because I have not had this issue before so its really strange. I´ve always thought that FF was the browser for those who wants integrity and privacy but with this issue it feels like that´s not the case anymore. Thank you, but I do know about how to dismiss the shortcut "manually" but one should not have to do that. I guess there´s not too much I can do about it. I´ll wait a few days to see if anyone else have some ideas.

I realize the reference to hovering may not have been clear in my description. You can get the menu with the Dismiss option by holding the mouse pointer over the shortcut:

I really do appreciate you taking the time to try and help me, and taking the effort to make that instruction image. But I did know what you meant in the first comment :) I do use that sometimes to manually remove the shortcuts. Big thank you for trying!

Note that using Dismiss adds a hash of the link to a pref on the about:config page unlike "Delete from History" that only remove this item from the history. This pref can grow quite large if you use Dismiss a lot.

Changes made manually on the Firefox Home page are stored in prefs that you can find on the about:config page.

  • browser.newtabpage.pinned => websites pinned to a tile
  • browser.newtabpage.blocked => websites removed by clicking Dismiss in a tile
