Respect my settings or I will find other software

I don't want to help Firefox or Mozilla, with data about how I use the browser or anything else. I try, with some success, to minimize the telemetry data flying out of my household everyday across multiple devices and operating systems - so I turn off these settings immediately in any software I do install.

I recently did a "refresh" of Firefox on a different PC... that did pretty much "factory reset" the browser - my extensions were removed, telemetry was turned back on, and that is to be expected. Turned it off, moved on to the next part of that job.

Today, on my office pc, I get annoyed by some autocompleting in the navigation bar, an option I had turned off months (years?) ago. Went into settings, and well what in the hell?

Every single option to send my data to Mozilla, was clicked on. Is it your express update policy to overwrite user-specified settings with each and every update? That's fine for you and all, but please let me know and I will use something else. Like I did with Thunderbird years ago. I have sent money to Mozilla before, not really sure how likely I would be to do that again.

TL:dr - Is this a mistake from a recent update, or is this standard operating procedure?
