Firefox crashing when rendering maps

For the past two weeks, I've noticed that embedded maps make my browser immediately crash. I initially thought it was a Firefox problem, but I have been having a similar issue with Safari. This does NOT happen on my iPhone using the same two browsers. This also does not seem to effect Google Maps or embedded Google Maps, but embedded maps from other services. Anyway, I'm posting here because Firefox conveniently provides crash data, I'm not sure what else the cause could be and I'm hoping someone can help.

Two websites this has been consistently happening with are The Empire State Trail bike path (https://empiretrail.ny.gov/) and a NYC vaccine finder website (https://vaccinefinder.nyc.gov/). Firefox immediately crashes, though with the EST website it seems to be tied to the pathway of the trail being drawn (crashing after I've zoomed in a few times and the path has to regenerate). Safari doesn't totally crash, but forces a site reload and after it fails a second time says it can't display the site.

Any ideas what the issue could be? I'm on the latest version of Catalina (10.15.7), Firefox and Safari and seem to have all security updates for all.

Here's a link to the latest crash data: https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/1389c870-51cf-4790-b0a0-fd01f0211202

Some of the bug reports think the problem is with an Apple update.

I called for more help.

I wasn't having this issue on my work computer (which is the exact same model Macbook Pro with the same OS and browsers), but Firefox just updated and now I'm having the same crashing issues above, plus whenever I use Google Streetview.

The problem is not still there, but only because maps now fail to load entirely.

Reboot the computer and try again.

I have. And again, this is happening on two separate computers.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version?cache=no Did you update Firefox to the latest version?

Version 95.0, first offered to Release channel users on December 7, 2021

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1359657#answer-1463359 and updated to 95.0. . . . I finally found where the plugin "Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google Inc." was not updating to the newest version of December 1, 2021. Ver #4.10.2391.0

cor-el; Make sure you have the latest Widevine version. You can toggle DRM off/on to see if that makes Firefox (re)load DRM components.

You can possibly check the XHR requests in the Browser Console if this doesn't work.

Just updated to the latest Firefox, no change: https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/1389c870-51cf-4790-b0a0-fd01f0211202

I don't see what DRM management, which relates to video and audio, would have to do with Maps. I have no issues running video.

This is still happening, now with the Radar map on weather.com, too, which wasn't happening recently.

I've come across this fix for Safari, and it seems to work. Is there an equivalent for Firefox?

In the Safari Menu Bar, go to Develop >> Experimental Features >> then check both WebGL 2.0 and WebGL via Metal.

If Develop is not in the Safari Menu bar, go to Safari >> Preferences >> Advanced >> and tick "Show Develop menu in menu bar" down the bottom.
