I see someone thought it would be a good idea to force change my browser to a weird orange color with the latest update. How do i change it back and can you guys please not do that again?

It wouldn't change by itself. Someone did it. You can change it back in ≡ -> Extensions and Themes -> Themes.

A message popped up advertising the new feature and interrupted my work. I quit the browser and upon re-opening firefox, it was changed. So I did not take any action to change the color of my browser

But to your point, yes someone did change it -- whoever pushed this update out.

You may not have closed this pop-up asking to try out a new feature to use a built-in Colorways theme.

It is possible that you selected one of the Colorways themes that are included in Firefox 94. You can select another theme like the default system theme via "Add-ons and Themes" (Ctrl+Shift+A).

Thanks!

Where in my options do I disable any further interruptions of this kind that bring firefox to the front and change my theme without any input from myself other than quitting the application?

Any time you install an update, you may a "what's new" page, and sometimes those may have an interactive dialog. You can make sure you control the timing of when updates install by reviewing the settings on the Preferences page, Updates section.

Thank you, I am familiar with everything you mentioned. What I am not familiar with as a "what's new" page that changes the color of my browser without any input from myself (other than quitting firefox to get past the irritant)

I don't know what happened and I can't think of a way to re-create the scenario. Let us know whether it happens after the next update.

hopefully it doesn't again because it was really fucking annoying! but fingers crossed never again as firefox is generally a really unobtrusive browser!
