FireFox used to allow docking of a separate window back as a tab in an existing window but doesn't anymore - how do I get this back?

I have a FireFox window open, and I launch a portal from it which causes a new window to open. I do have "Open links in tabs instead of new windows" ticked in FF settings. FF used to allow me to dock the window as a tab in the original window just by clicking and dragging it to the tab area but for some reason it doesn't allow that anymore. How do I get that back? Or is there another way to ensure new windows open as tabs when clicking a function in the original window?
