I want to change the list format of the download/save-as dialog so that directories are listed first (not alphabetized among filenames), how?

Firefox ESR current version 52.5 under Debian Linux 9 "Stretch", on an older laptop with a Standard Definition screen. I have my browser set to "Always Ask Where To Save". The mini file browser dialog to determine where to save the incoming file is not formatted the way I want it, it alphabetizes everything, irrespective of whether it is a file or directory, which requires a lot of scrolling (and hunting through a smallish-font list) to find my subject-oriented target subdirectories for the downloads. I would like, as most regular file managers can, to list all the directories first as I navigate, also maybe increase the thumbnail/font size of the listing? It's rather difficult as it is to pick out a directory (e.g. "Bioshock Elizabeth") from the rest of the pix! The upload dialog (as used to upload my screenshot) has the same issue.
