cant bring my address's in to play nor can i send e-mails

My server worked with me on this for quite some time thought we had solved problem but didn't had time today thought I would bring you folks in on ti. I can receive and read mail ! I can not send mail at all and my address book will not transfer to this Thunderbird. I t all started when I bought new PC in Dec 2016 new to windows 10 my mail was on outlook and I guess ten dose'nt like my server or outlook I forget which is which. But bottom line cant send nor get address book to transfer.Thank you

Several different issues here that need several different solutions.

First of all, I don't think it matters at all what operating system you use. My accounts work or have worked in Windows XP, 7 and 10, and Android and Linux.

So, who provides your email? When you say "my server" I guess it is your ISP.

If you have been using webmail, or an online address book, or another email client, you'll probably need to export your address book to a file and then import that file into Thunderbird's Address Book. Look for options to export it to a CSV ("comma separated values") file.
