Random disconnects
Hi everybody!
I am pretty sure this question is not about a pure Firefox problem itself but I didn't know who/where else to ask.
My situation is this:
I am working on a Lenovo Yoga 2 and Ubuntu 16.04. I am working for a professors group at the university. To be allowed to get an ip address assigned one has to register ones Internet connecting devices' MAC address with the system admin. So in my case this is an Ethernet dongle/usb adapter. When using Firefox I get random disconnects pretty frequently. Lets say every 20 minutes at most. Sometimes every 5 minutes. Firefox then displays the usual "Server not found" message and when I try to refresh either nothing happens or the message pop-up "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as search or confirmation) that was performed earlier.", which does not change anything either when I hit "Resend". After a couple of retries the connection is back up and whatever site loads again. When this disconnects happen I checked with the Ubuntu browser and no connection can be established with this one either BUT when I try Firefox in TOR mode everything works fine.
I have tried refreshing Firefox (removing all add-ons etc.) I tried selecting the No Proxy option as well as disabling IPv6 and DNS Prefetching but without success.
I would really appreciate some help. I don't know what Firefox TOR does differently to avoid these breakdowns.
Cheers!

Maybe I should also add that when I connect via the university's WIFI Firefox does not have that problem.
