Profile move: some folders appear under local folders
A friend got low on space on C drive, win7, so I followed the guide below for moving location of emails. I copied Imapmail and Mail folders to D:\ drive.
[url]http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_mail_storage_location_(Thunderbird) /url (not global inbox)
Then he told me some folders where missing in 2 of his email accounts in Thunderbird. I realized I should have done a profile move. So I did that, following guide below.
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_profile_folder
(the guide immediately below "Background)
Still the folders were missing.I thought well let's just revert back to C:\, where the original files are all intact. Pointed back all the directories in Thunderbird under Account settings for the individual email accounts (4 of them), as well as the Local Folder directory, to the original location (that is in AppData). But some folders are still missing. They are instead present under Local Folders. If I do a file search in Windows for one of the missing folders this is the result:
C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\gms1zto1.default\Mail\Local Folders\Outlook-import.sbd\Personliga mappar - Äldre.sbd\Inkorgen.sbd\Kurs Miljöbrott.sbd
This Folder is in Thunderbird supposed to be nested under another Folder. version is 31.5.0
I have tried to create a new folder in the folder where a folder is missing (advice from googling).
How do I fix this? Why and how did it happen?
The owner has his own business with tens of thousands of emails, and he had a sytem in where he organized them in folders and subfolders etc.'

How would you like it to be? where should that folder be? Just tell us dont do anything yet.
The thing is many many folders are missing. I know we can manually recreate the hierachy, but that would take a lot of time, hence this post.
I want it to be like he had organized it. Which for example was:
Email account
Folder Sub folder Sub folder
But now these subfolders are missing. Instead they can be found under Local Folders, all spread out, not with the same hierarchy.
Here is the problem If it is IMAP account he is creating those folders on the server. Tbird in principal is then a viewing tool. As soon as you moved IMAPMail Things started to happened on the server as well. Check with Webmail whats left. But don't move anything back into IMAPMAIL If its POP account then the folders were just created localy
Set it up but in local folders. To reduce size on C - disk: export, move attachment, to other disk.
