hello sweets, ssl3.0 encrypted connections can be no longer considered secure since an attack vector against them ("POODLE") has become known. please contact the webmaster in charge of the site and urge them to update their encryption to something contemporary. https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2014/10/14/the-poodle-attack-and-the-end-of-ssl-3-0/

if you want to re-enable ssl 3.0 in firefox you can do that - however keep the consequences in mind, that you will become vulnerable to the attack mentioned above: enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named security.tls.version.min. double-click it, change its value to 0 and restart the browser.

It worked for me just fine.

In the hidden settings, Firefox uses

SSL 3 TLS 1 TLS 1.1 TLS 1.2

An alert went out that SSL was compromised, so FF has disabled this. .

FredMcD you said: In the hidden settings, Firefox uses SSL 3 TLS 1 TLS 1.1 TLS 1.2 An alert went out that SSL was compromised, so FF has disabled this. .

Can you tell me exactly how you go about doing this??

I dont want to compromise the security just to be able to log onto that website. I was able to load Firefox 35.0 onto another computer with Windows XP with a dialup connection and had no problems logging on to turbotax. No error msg whatsoever. So I dont think its necessary to compromise security there must be another way

which security program are you using on the pc with the issue?

Security has been disabled. Just using Windows Firewall, so it cant be that

can you try a workaround to inspect the failing certificate? first enter chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul into the address-bar and on the interface that opens enter "https://myturbotax.intuit.com" into the location server field. click on get certificate & view and see what issuer information it contains (see screenshot) and report back with that in the forum.
