My Outlook account moves what it thinks are spam/marketing messages into a "Junk" folder. Sometimes there are important messages here that I must mark as "Not Junk" so that I can continue to receive new messages from this sender in my InBox. I cannot map this Junk folder into Thunderbird even after I go through the steps and checkbox this folder to be synchronized. It does not appear in the left-side "All Folders" section.

Many solutions suggest that I make changes in "Settings\Privacy & Security\Junk" section. This does not exist. There, however, is a "Spam" section. Is this the same functionality?

Further, under "Accounts\Spam Settings\" there is a "Destination and Retention" section. There is no "Junk" folder available under "Other".

Does anyone else have problems linking server-side Junk folders into Thunderbird?

ps. I've googled this extensively, and all the presented "solutions" are not accurate as the Thunderbird "junk" options they refer no longer exist. Has there been recent UX changes, and this is now a lingering bug?

In the past week emails from one of my friends started going into junk mail. The person in in my contacts. I selected 'enable adaptive emailjunk mail..." and selected the correct address book. The mail still went to the junk folder. I changed the 'move new junk mail to: my inbox, still went into the junk folder. I had him send me 10 emails that I marked as 'not junk' still no success. My emails come from yahoo.com - went there and there was nothing in the spam or junk folder in my yahoo email account. This is happening to only one email address. There's nothing strange in the title of the email or the content. I've run out of ideas.

Is the feature supposed to behave this way? I find this rather tedious. Am I missing something here?

Current behavior:

My installation does not seem to automatically execute spam filtering for unified folders or saved searches. As soon as I manually select one of the included folders within - e.g. an individual mail acccount's inbox - the algorithm triggers and everything works as expected, but only for the one folder I clicked. This leaves me with having to click through all my mail accounts manually to make use of the adaptive junk mail controls function.

Expected behavior:

Selecting a unified folder triggers junk mail controls for all the included folders and moves messages to the respective junk folders automatically.

I have AOL mail in IMAP. I received both regular and junk mail successfully. Then, I started not receiving the junk mail but still receiving the regular mail. Now the spam folder is empty and I see junk mail when I go to AOL mail through the web but I do not see this mail in the spam folder like I used to. I tried deleting the AOL account in Thunderbird and reinstalling it but that made no difference. What can I do?

I am using Thunderbird 147.0.1 connected to an Exchange 365 service using web access. All folders except Junk are listed on the left hand pane and are synchronising to local storage.

When I go to 'Account Settings', 'Synchronisation and storage, 'Advanced' the Junk mail folder is not listed as available for se;ection.

How do I enable the junk folder to be available locally? Many thanks for ant assistance.

What is the function of File / Empty Trash? Will it empty trash in all mail accounts or only the selected? If I select Blogs & News feeds will File / Empty Trash empty read posts there as well? Empty Trash is a bit unclear.

I get 4 to 6 messages from spammers trying to get me involved with Xrated sited....all of these emails are from hotmail.com.......This has been going on for several weeks or maybe months....do you or I have the ability to block all emails from hotmail.com????? I am tired of blocking these so many times every day.

My junk email has increased dramatically lately. I'm sure it's just life on the internet but I'm trying to figure out if clicking "unsubscribe" actually does anything. I've been putting all the emails that I click "unsubscribe" into a separate folder. I'd like to sort the folder by the email address of the sender. However, when you click on the "from" selection in the message window it gives you the entire entry that the sender put in the send section. In other words I see "The Scary Law, Thomas T. from NFE <daily@today.newfinanceera.com>". Is there a way to get a column that just shows the "<daily@today.newfinanceera.com>" so I can sort on that item?

I want to change the folder to which I currently send my spam filters on my Mac. I understand how I can edit them individually and handle new filters, however I have several hundred accumulated filters created over the years and doing so individually will be very time consuming. Is there a method I can use to change all existing spam filter's destination folder in a single step. I know a bit about using Config Editor, Chrome css, probably just enough to get my self in trouble. I see several spam filter files within the Thunderbird folder, but not sure if they are germane.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Quite recently I noticed that, in the list of folders, I see 2 "Junk" folders.

On looking at the properties for 1 Junk folder the location is shown as "imap://*********%40gmail.com@imap.gmail.com/Junk",

but properties for the other shown as Junk locates as "imap://*********%40gmail.com@imap.gmail.com/Spam".

I've tried renaming that folder in Thunderbird to Spam but the change doesn't take effect.

What went wrong, and more importantly how can I rename it to see it as "Spam"?

Bonjour, Ma femme, victime d'un hameçonnage, a effacé le mail frauduleux que réclame l'assurance Allyatys. J'ai pu récupéré tous les mails effacés ( plus de 800) en employant la méthode de X-Mozilla-Statuts: 0000. Mais bizarrement ce mail frauduleux manque à l'appel dans la période indiquée. Some Junk Mail (so far, only from my Outlook mail account) is appearing in my Inbox. This mail has a yellow banner at the top stating "Thunderbird thinks this message is Junk mail". Also on this banner is a button marked "Not Junk", that allows me to tell Thunderbird that it is not Junk. At the very top of the message (as with all messages) is a button marked "Junk", which in this case is "greyed out" and so won't work, although this button is not greyed out for messages that are not thought to be Junk!. This seems counter intuitive to me. Thunderbird is allowing some messages into the Inbox which it thinks are Junk, but disables the button that allows me to confirm it! I know that I can still mark the message as Junk by using the individual menu for the message (3 vertical dots), but why disallow the obvious "quick action" button?

When I try and "Compact" my trash folder, I get the following error message: "The folder 'Trash on redacted@gmail.com' could not be compacted because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again."

There is plenty of disk space, but there is no option for "write privileges". The trash folder has grown to 632 MgB even though I keep deleting old messages from the trash folder!

I have noticed the number of messages in my spam folder growing. When I check what's there I find that many are not spam and they haven't ever appeared in my inbox. Sure, I can drag them back over but that's not ideal.

How can I control what goes into my spam folder?
