From my homepage, I try to go to one of the sites I have tabbed on the top. Instead of going to a completely new page, the target page opens up in the left sidebar of my home page. I cannot turn it into a full page.

hello, please right-click each bookmark, then select properties & make sure that the option Load this bookmark in the sidebar is unchecked...

Note that opening a bookmark in the sidebar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.
