Can I apply a password to open a single folder in my bookmarks list?
I have several bookmark folders but would like the extra security of it only being able to open my banking folder with a password. Is this possible?

Link Password 3.1.3.3
I have not used this add-on. Searched it for you on addons.mozilla.org using keywords "bookmark password"
Check and tell if its working.
Thanks for the info, it goes part way to answering the query, the add on will password protect the contents of a folder but so far I have not been able to password the folder itself to prevent it being opened. Having just moved to Firefox, with being fed up with IE, I have still not mastered its full potential yet so will look further into the add on area. Again thanks for your guidance. bradac in uk

Try, Check and tell if its working.
I see no rason or need to specifically protect such a folder.
Presumably your banking site needs a login and password to use it. The login could be related to your account number or name so others may be able to discover that but if the password is not saved by Firefox than you should still be secure, in that no one may then be able to access your account.
There are methods of generating memorable passwords that should be secure, and there will be many methods of supposedly at least archiving passwords securely.
Your banks bookmarks will not do anything insecure even if someone uses them as long as they the person does not have access to the login information (through firefox, or their own knowledge)
You could also consider separate OS account or separate Firefox profiles, but they tend to give an appearance of security and separation, that is easily circumvented.
Thanks John99, I agree, all my accounts are all password protected along with the banks security methods but any one in theory could open my banking bookmark to see what financial institutions etc I use. This is the reason for my query.
Link Password will password protect an individual bookmark, but not a folder. The bookmark won't load without entering the correct password for it. And you can change the name of a bookmark (in Properties for the bookmark) and make it not easily recognizable to prying eyes.
