Multiple background processes

Hello guys, I'm aware that Firefox runs multiple processes in the background, which I understand is corresponding to multiple tabs in my browser. But recently I noticed that even if I have just one tab open, there are 7 instances of firefox processes running in my task manager. I even installed a fresh copy of firefox, but it's still happening and the disk usage shoots upto 100%. Any solutions or suggestions on this? Thanks in advance! ☺

No, it's not like that.
