Address bar doesn't show search engine URL even when about:config edited

On Firefox beta for android. I prefer my address bar to show my search URL when searching. Instead it just shows my search terms, so "test" rather than google.com/q=test … (funda okungaphezulu)

On Firefox beta for android. I prefer my address bar to show my search URL when searching. Instead it just shows my search terms, so "test" rather than google.com/q=test or something like that. I've tried editing the relevant about: config settings and this worked for a few moments but now doesn't have an effect. Anything I can do about this, as for me this is an essential feature? Cheers

I've been using FF nightly on Android for a long time now, I've set the address bar to the bottom. a couple months back I got an update that added navigation buttons and a new tab button right below the address bar. this was the best update I've received, so convenient and allowed me to stop using the menu altogether. everything was just one tap away.

attaching a screenshot I found on Google for demonstration of that layout.

recently, I guess there was another update and the change had been reverted. it's a huge downgrade for my user experience to be honest. now the address bar went back to being one small strip, that squeezes everything tightly and forces me to interact with the menu again when I want to go back or open a new tab...

How to hide the share button in the address bar in Firefox on Android (nighly, single row bottom address bar layout). Together with reader mode and the translate button (if available) there is almost no space left for the address itself. Moving all three buttons to the menu (or at least the share button) would help a lot.
