When I go to delete a message lately, I click the delete button and it checks mail instead of deleting the message. I might be going crazy but 30 years of hitting the same button has messed me up.

for an imap account, checking the status with the server would be normal. Is your account IMAP?

No has nothing to do with imap. It is the menubar at the top. I had a delete button up there. If I use that it just looks for new messages. Keyboard delete works fine. Maybe they did something to the menubar last update.

Can you show us a screen shot of your menu bar with the Delete button which "checks mail instead of deleting the message"
