How do I go about adding a section on the home page like "Genealogy" with various articles and events on it. Or even say, "Hobbies" where I can find latest articles or apps on various hobbies I enjoy?

I think you need an add-on for that, for instance https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/renewed-tab/
