So I guess my Firefox update to ver. 147 from 146 by its auto update feature, but I realized all the past personal data (ie, history, cookies, passwords, profile, etc) was gone.

I have Mozilla Account (I think it's the same as Firefox Account back in the old days), so my personal data is now retrieved from some device as far as possible, but I lost local personal settings like Shortcuts on the main page on my laptop,p which is the main device to do everything.

I can't help what happened to me, and I will rebuild what I used to be on that day, but I am curious if it's just me, or there is some logic to cause this data loss.

Mozilla support articles frequently state that Firefox does not use popups for browser updates. However, I periodically receive popups from the toolbar stating that Firefox couldn't update automatically. The attached picture is an example from the web but looks just like the popups I receive. The issue typically either resolves itself or I download from the Firefox website and reinstall. In a rush/moment of weakness, I recently clicked the link in the popup. It took me directly to the Firefox website where I regrettably downloaded and updated the browser. I've since run multiple Norton and Malwarebytes scans, which have found no issues. It may be a difference in the definition of popups (from the toolbar vs within a browser page)... Is this a legitimate update message from Firefox? If it is not, are there any other steps I should take (e.g., reinstall Firefox)? I appreciate your help!

Never seen this before. I installed v143.0.4 on 10/3. Since it was an extended length of time up to now, I went to check (Image 1 & 2)

I still wasn't convinced (Image 3)

Also, I never opt to "Automatically Install Updates". I don't know how that got selected, but even so, it did not work.

Explanation please?

While I'm using Firefox, I try to go to a new website and Firefox says that it's installing a new version and I need to stop what I'm doing and restart. When Firefox restarts, it forces me to create a new profile and I've lost everything I had before.

This happens two or three times a day.

At least once a day since Version 145 dropped Firefox has told me I need to restart to update. When I do, it shows a pop up telling my I am opening an older version of Firefox and need to create a new profile to avoid corrupting my data. Daily, sometimes twice a day I have to go in and switch profiles back to the profile that has all of my book marks. Every computer in our office has this issue now. One of them deleted a profile without prompting, and it is not even in the appdata folder with "deleteme" in front of it. It is just gone. The last update had tabs crash daily. Is there any hope of stopping the second broken update in a row from wasting my time fixing it every day?
