every new tab used to show my favourites as graphic links - how can I recreate this feature?

clicking the 'new tab' button used to bring up a page that had my favourite / most recently visited web pages displayed as thumbnails that were also links. Pages visited less recently were also listed.

This feature is time-saving & handy, and has been continuous thro' several upgrades. How can I re-set it?
