Previously I had setup several bookmarks with special "tags" (not sure that is the right term) that indicate to Firefox that by placing this tag first in the URL area and then typing search criteria, Firefox would go to the bookmarked website (ie, imdb.com), place the entered search criteria in the search bar on the website, and then immediately present the result of the search. I used this for imdb (imdb.com) and dict (dictionary.com) to save multiple steps. However this facility seems to have been lost over the 3-6mo.

I can find no mention and description of how to reinstall the facility, Any help? I am at the 30.0 version and stay pretty much up to date.

Previous responses are correct in that I was looking for "keywords" (not tags) and Thanks for "guigs2" for the link. Following the instruction of the link, I was able to successfully add my website search function using keywords. Thanks to all.

Don't know if an additional question is appropriate or fair but does anyone know how you can find all keywords that you have established. I am thinking that I have more than the 2 I have re-setup and would like either remove or cleanup previous keyword activity.

Hi rkrueg, Thank you for your post. This might have been the functionality of an add on but most likely it is this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-search-from-address-bar Adding a keyword to a bookmarked search. If you re-add them does the functionality come back?

Sounds that you mean using a keyword search and had previously added a keyword to some of the search engines and/or bookmarks.

You can add a keyword to installed search engine by clicking the search engine icon in the search bar and open Manage Search Engines.

You can add a keyword to a bookmark in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) in the Details pane at the bottom right. Click the More button to show more settings. You can also do that via the bookmarks star on the Navigation Toolbar.

A search engine with a keyword can easily be found in manage search engines.

In the Bookmarks Manager (Library) you can make the Keyword column visible and click this header to sort by the Keyword. Then you see all bookmarks with a keyword. You can enter a common character like a colon (:) in the search bar to show all the bookmarks.

Your reference to "manage search engines" and "Bookmarks Manager" does not appear to be on my Firefox browser. I can access the "Library" by clicking on "Show all Bookmarks". However this simply displays the "Library" with a view of Bookmarks Toolbar, Menu, & Unsorted Bookmarks. I had located a "Library" view that does not have any folder organization (displays only bookmarks that includes the column views you reference), however I cannot seem to locate it again. Given I have multiples layers of sub-folders, do you have any idea how I previously located a "Library" view of all of the bookmarks I have without the folder organization. That is important because if this is not possible (it is as I have done it), in order to locate a lost keyword I would have to access every folder I have (hundreds).

I appreciate your continued support! Please let me know if I should be inquirying on another question string.

You can find Manage Search Engines if you click the search icon on the Navigation Toolbar to open the menu to select the current search engine. You can use the Search bar at the top right in the Library (Bookmarks Manager) to search for bookmarks. All bookmarks will likely have a colon as the protocol delimiter and that is a good candidate for displaying all the bookmarks in the right pane.

You want to manage the keywords, so first you have to make that column visible and next to sort the bookmarks by that column.
