Hi folks!

My Firefox just updated and I'm now receiving the recommended stories (along with the widgets and recent activity.) when I open a New Tab. I was able to disable the widgets and activity and I see the place where I can turn off the Stories, but they are not going away.

In the "Customize" menu accessible via the pencil icon on the New Tab page, toggling Stories off does not make them go away; reloading the page, the toggle is re-enabled.

In the general Settings menu, accessible via the hamburger menu and under "Home and startup," I have Stories ("Exceptional content curated by the Firefox family") toggled off. The toggle does not reset, but the stories still display.

How can I fix this? Thank you all very much in advance.

Hi, I believe this is some kind of bug/issue after the latest browser update (as I've quite literally never had this issue before). I like my launch page not to be cluttered with nonsense, no widgets, no activity, just my standard pinned shortcuts and the google search bar. However, after the latest update, "stories" have been on and have stayed on (despite altering all the settings that should get rid of it altogether). Even after turning it off, it appears it turns itself back on immediately. I don't want to see this junk and shouldn't have to, no one should, I even went to the trouble of blocking all topics in hopes the thing would just vanish. It did not. I hoped to report this to Mozilla more directly but couldn't find a meaningful bug report option. If anyone else has encountered this or if anyone has a true solution, I'd like to hear it, thank you.

It appears the new update in Firefox has glitched my settings. Everytime I try to disable it on the homepage, and I reload it, it just turns itself back on. Settings not on the homepage does not help either. Nothing appears to work, although it has been working for many years until today.

On new tab, all my added short cuts are gone and it doesn't let me add any. For example I want to have a shortcut to say... Amazon, but when I type or paste in the url, it still doesn't add it and the add button goes blue, not white. I have the shortcut feature turned on

I'm trying to add the world cup tracker to my home screen, but when i click the link, it just puts me in my new tab page with no changes. When I click the pencil edit icon, widgets are not an option for me. Is there a place I need to enable them?

How do I get my apps, like Duolingo, Facebook etc. back on my Firefox page? I just perhaps, made a mistake, and downloaded the new Mozilla/Firefox page and now I don't see my apps that I use everyday. Help!

Hi, since the last update for Mozilla on my laptop (version 153.0.1 (64 bit), all the website shortcuts in the Firefox homepage that I had pinned have disappeared. I also can't add new shortcuts. I checked in about:config and in browser.newtabpage.pinned the shortcuts are all there. The display settings for shortcuts are active.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

However, upon updating to Firefox 136, I only get a blank page. All of my autoconfig files still exist in /usr/lib/firefox.

When I create a new tab with Ctrl+T, it's a blank page. When I create a new window, it loads the local page I want it to load with the file path in the URL (which it never had before; the URL bar was blank in Firefox 135). So it seems to be partially working.

Any tips?

Hello Long ago I turned off search in address bar. Today it decided to resume search on that area. I searched help and the followed instruction for about:config. I've and see I've already set as required "browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar" it is set to false. What do I do to fix this. I really find search in address bar confusing.

Following a recent Firefox update, 1.48.0 I think, the search box in the middle of the page no longer works, any attempt to type there ends up in the address bar. I have tried setting "browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar" to false and other suggested fixes on the internet but it made no difference. I am running Windows 11 Pro, fully updated. Hope you can help Regards Keith

hi i am unable to use the middle search bar on the firefox screen , i understand that this search bar is a dummy bar, i have been told that to make this bar work you have to alter the settings using about:config process, and changing the handoff from ture to false , to which I have done in the past and it has worked , but for a reason I cannot understand this seems not to work now , i am completely lost now and i am reaching out to the community for help and advise thank you . K.

As title says, on my main profile, i dont see any option to use the new tab widgets function. If i make a new profile, it is there on default.

How to add it on my main profile?
