Initially Thunderbird works normally, but then, after a while (sometimes a few minutes, sometimes longer) "No Message Found" appears if I try to look in any folder. The only way out of this is to close and restart Thunderbird. Running v.128.3.1esr (64 bit). Also, minor issue, this version is slower to start. Previous versions of Thunderbird worked flawlessly. System: Intel i7-600 @ 3.4GHz, 32Gb RAM, 64 bit, Win10 Pro, Build 19045.5011. Thank you.

I have the same issue and behavior reported in question 1468895 following update 128.3.1esr.

When I "get new mail," another account processes and my main one does nothing with no status message display. It used to be that when "nothing" happened, I would try again and be asked to confirm a security exception and then it worked again.

A tablet pc I use for travel with the same update continues to download mail for this account, though more hesitatingly than it did.

The error console shows: NotFoundError: No such JSProcessActor 'BrowserToolboxDevToolsProcess' pop3.server1.4: SecurityError: a SecurityCertificate error occurred Pop3Client.sys.mjs:380:18 pop3.server1.4: SecurityError info: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN Pop3Client.sys.mjs:422:20 pop3.server1.4: SecurityError cert chain: securepop.siteprotect.com; serial# 20:C8:AF:E0:B1:95:42:48:9C:C8:21:21:4A:87:89:B8 <- Avast Web/Mail Shield Root; serial# 4D:D7:A4:81:AF:9D:DF:4D:8F:45:D8:21:07:23:2D:0A Pop3Client.sys.mjs:427:22 tb.account.size_on_disk - Truncating float/double number. 2

Hi, I messed up my first email account creation with Thunderbird where I can't see any local emails and my server inbox is now empty (had +200 emails in there). I am in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

Here is what I did: 1- went into my server mail and moved every folder emails into my inbox

2- created my Thunderbird POP3 using the automatic process

   - said to delete emails after being downloaded

3- once created I wanted to create a personnalized folder this account (I have another email to do the same thing). I was pointing to a specific folder before I created a new one: ~/snap/thunderbird/common/.thunderbird/b*.default I pointed it to ~/snap/thunderbird/common/.thunderbird/f*

      • can't remember if these were called profile location or something else. Please explain the purpose of it and when should we need to change it.

4- I went into my mail window and noticed Thunderebird Inbox being empty. I went back to my server inbox and it was also empty. I did not know why nothing was downloaded. I tried using the Get Mail a few times but nothing was happening. Tried to look for Synch something option but could not find any

5- I checked both folders above and saw the default one had tons of stuff why the second one had almost nothing. So I figured that before I had chosen the 2nd folder location, my inbox must have been downloaded into the default one.

6- tried in the console to copy the whole content of the first folder to the second one. I think I restarted at that point, not sure. But in the email list window there was "history.sqlite" listed instead of inbox and "minidumps" below it.

7- I added an import addon, imported the b*.default folder into a 3 one I created, had chosen Offline and restarted. Now in the email window nothing was showing up. I tried Get Mail but it said I needed to get off the Offline mode. I unchecked Working Offline in the File menu but still nothing.

If I do a Thunderbird restart, it asks me which of the 3 profiles I want to start Thunderbird with. If I chose the default one, it shows the history.sqlite and minidumps folders. If I chose the 2nd one I created, it has the same content. If I chose the 3rd one I created with the import, it brings me up to the step where I can create a Thunderbird email account.

Now I have no idea what to do. I still believe all my 200+ emails are in the b*.default folder but how to I switch back to it?

Please tell me I did not loose all those 200+ emails !!!

I have attached the message popup. This is fairly regular. I imagine it is saved somewhere. I do not know where. Do you? Or do you have another fix to remove this ongoing (annoying) request?

I have a folder for my credit card statements. Today, Oct 13, I was going to drag a new statement from the Inbox to that folder but decided to check my last statement first. When I clicked on the statement nothing came up but "giberish", page after page of computer language. In checking other statements some are the same and others are ok.

Following a computer malfunction I lost AT&T email access. Their support restored access which required a password change. Unfortunately, it did restore access for Thunderbird. After several hours of trying various unsuccessful options I deleted and re-installed Tbird. Tbird required a password to access the AT&T server. I entered the AT&T Secure Key and received msg. that Tbird was installed. The Tbird display was exactly like the one I had before re-installing it. There were a few emails displayed along with the Contacts list. However I could not receive or send any emails. I tried entering the Secure Key and the new AT&T password to log in without success. Computer was turned off for the night. On restarting this A.M. the Tbird screen no longer displayed. In its place is the error msg. to check logs or run SXStrace (screen shot attached). Neither option is of any value to me since I do not know how to interpret the information in the log nor do I understand the SXStrace syntax.

      I am able to login to Tbird using  the Secure Key on a different computer.  Tbird will receive but not send emails. 
   I have checked the SMTP setting and it is correct.

Every few months, my message sorting will switch to threaded mode. It did it again within the last couple of days.

I thought maybe it reverts to defaults whenever an update comes through, but update history shows my last update was Sept. 12 (exactly a month ago), and I used T-Bird yesterday, and messages were not threaded then.

I'm thinking that if I change the defaults to "unthreaded", this would stop happening, but I'm curious if it's common for it to randomly switch to the default irrespective of updates.

Would the computer rebooting (whether manually or automatically for, say, Windows updates) cause it to revert to defaults - is that what's going on?

When I go to Thunderbird Settings,then Saved Passwords I get a rather large (width) window that must have the passwords behind the right-hand border. I can find no way to scroll, change window size, etc in order to view my passwords. My wife;s computer which has Thunderbird, however, has the small window that mine used to have that can be sized to view all of the data including the passwords.

How to synchronize versions of Thunderbird on old and new PC when trying to tranfer profile folder.

I have unsuccessfully followed to the best of my ability the instructions located here for migrating the Thunderbird profile folder to a new PC: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/moving-thunderbird-data-to-a-new-computer (my new operating system is Windows 11 Pro). The folders appear to be installed on the new PC when I examine them through File Explorer, but they don't load into Thunderbird when I open the app.

I read somewhere in one of the comments to this article that it is critical that the versions of Thunderbird on both the old PC and the new PC must be the same. But am confounded as to how to do that. When I look for updates to the version on the old PC, I am offered version 115.10.1. But when I try to download Thunderbird for installation on the new computer, one is only offered 128.3.1esr. How, may I ask, can one synchronize the versions of Thunderbird on both computers then? Where can I find an older version of Thunderbird to download onto the new PC? Or get the version of Thunderbird on the old PC to update to the latest release?

On MacOS using the OS dark theme selection, and the Mozilla TB neutral (default) System theme, Thunderbird forces all reply message backgrounds to be black. Emails are sent with black text over black background This can only be corrected by turning off the OS theme. (An app theme is supposed to theme the app, not the content.)

So TB is forcing Mac users to use an OS theme not of their choosing or to send unreadable emails.

  • MacOS Sonoma 14.1
  • Thunderbird 128.2.3esr
  • System theme — auto v1.3 (latest)

Text and Background Settings:

I also added the activity monitor. So it seems to be indexing a lot. I need help in getting this fix.
