You know how you can type a URL and then Ctr+Enter and FF autopopulates the .com? Well years ago "Shift+Enter" autopopulated ".net" and "Ctrl+Shift+Enter" autopopulated ".org".

I really liked that feature. I know a lot of people don't, or don't see its point; that's not important.

About three years ago, I added UserChrome.js and enable-UserChrome.js , which acomplished the two autopuopulating tasks quite nicely.

Until about four weeks ago. I don't know if an FF update stopped reading those two .js files, or if there's a conflict somewhere else, or what. I don't know where to begin - other than posting here for help.

Since 117(Beta)I have an issue with Firefox refusing to apply the update it downloaded. I've tried searching left and right on the internet for a solution and one does work which is installing the newer version of the browser each time myself. But this is ofcourse not a solution in the long run.

It tries now to apply the update 118b9 to stable version 118 and it did downloaded just fine and asked me if I wanted to close the program to let it update which always worked. I've tried different DNS to see if that could be the problem, tried a clean default profile to see if that helped, I haven't tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, due to me losing my passwords and what not.

I also tried to run the stable version to see if the issue was still there and it is still there, so me using the beta channel isn't the issue here.

Many websites I use on a regular basis have become unusable on firefox which i have used for over a decade. I can't change my Flickr cover photo because the pop up window is too huge, can't view a complete google doc because the thing is enormous, etc. The issue is that I MUST have the ability to set text in firefox to larger and I do so via the view - zoom in and zoom text only options. I have to have this ability because I have a visual disability. I do not have this issue using chrome but I detest chrome and want to keep using firefox, but entire portions of windows are cut off when they open up and I can't access them by zooming out either. The only thing that changes is the text gets so small that it is totally unreadable. This is a HUGE problem for me. I will NOT change my default windows setting to try and fix a firefox issue because that then screws up my window sizes for games, programs etc for my other software that I also use daily. So I won't be changing what works for 20 programs via windows settings to make ONE browser work better. This is a firefox problem, and firefox needs to fix it. I have tried multiple solutions cited online and nothing is working. If firefox is trying to get rid of it's users with visual disabilities, this is the way to go. I want to make the bottom scroll bar specially to be appeared only on hover and not when scrolling or even make it 100% transparent? I really dont want the bottom scrollbar to interface

This has happened a few times before after a Firefox update, but the most recent occurrence was after the update to version 117.0.1. My mouse wheel will not scroll in the bookmarks drop down menu, I have to use the up and down arrows in the drop down menu which is very slow. When the scroll wheel did work in the past, I could be scrolling and then move the cursor to the up or down arrows and scroll even faster still using the scroll wheel and get to the folder I want a lot quicker. The scroll wheel works normally while scrolling through webpages, the only place it doesn't scroll is the bookmarks drop down menu. I'm running Firefox version 117.0.1 (64 bit) on a Windows 10 notebook PC. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

As per subject. After i close FF - and it is no longer showing as an app in Task manager. When i try to restart it, it says it's still running and i have to ask it to close FF before it will open it again. AFAICS It happens randomly.

It may be relevant that when using CCleaner, it often (randomly) hangs when cleaning FF internet cache and says FF needs to be closed when it is already closed and does not appear in task manager. If i ask CCleaner to close FF, the application hangs.

Less likely perhaps to be relevant: i got a rogue change of Favicon on one site. I eventually deleted the relevant file hoping the Favicons would repopulate. Most have, but many haven't including hotmail and protonmail sites.

There seem to be many causes/solutions to FF hanging but i thought these specific circumstances might make it easier to suggest what the problem is exactly and how to fix it.

This morning, I brought up Firefox and found my bookmarks (including the toolbar) had vanished. I tried restoring my profile folder, but that didn't help. I also tried restoring the bookmarks from Firefox's own backups, but I got some "Unable to process backup file." messages. What do I do now?

So, here's the story:

My browser crashed while watching a video and writing a particularly lengthy YouTube comment on it. Knowing that I have been able to recover in-progress Reddit comments after a crash from the sessionstore-backups so long as I was on the page at the time of the crash, I know that at least one site saves all in-progress comments to that, and I highly suspect that is where in-progress Wikipedia edits are kept, I (wanting as much data as possible for as good of a recovery chance as possible) immediately copied all my Profile files, totalling more than 1.6 GB, to a non-volatile folder.

As I had done before, I took the most recent sessionstore-backups file (dated to the exact minute of the crash), forced it through the Session History Scrounger to decompress it, and then mass-replaced the document's \ns with proper newlines in Notepad++, which used to make the file more readable.

This time, it didn't. They must have changed the json newline formatting used between at least late April and now. And more importantly, when I searched through the file for keywords I used in the comment, I couldn't find it. Simply, it appears that in-progress YouTube comments aren't stored in that file.

So, where are they stored? Are they in any vaguely human-readable file (or file that can with some ease be converted into something vaguely human-readable)? Can I somehow revive a "zombie session" using just archived Profile folder data to copy it out of? Or should I just give up and rewrite the comment from scratch?

NOTE 1: This is adapted from a previous post made with an associated account on Reddit. As I fear using Firefox until I get this problem resolved due to the possible loss in ability to recover other data if I do so, I figure that giving the problem more attention here would be beneficial in resolving it more quickly.

NOTE 2: Also, to clarify, I don't need to restore the session and have the comment re-appear; I'd be fine with locating it in a text editor or similar program so I could copy it back into the submission box once the session is restored.

The right pane on google drive is not loading on firefox. It says "Couldn't load, Try again". Dev tools show the error "NS_ERROR_INTERCEPTION_FAILED".

If i clean the data and cookies for the website it starts working but not for long. Last time i did it i lasted like 5 minutes. Turning off all the extensions doesn't help.

I'm logged in on several google accounts, don't know if that matters.

How does it come that it is still present in 117? Why is there no official guide or warning about this issue? I am forced to use Portable 101 where there are no such bugs. The solution in the thread is unclear and points to Microsoft, which is ridiculous. The question is how to solve that Mozilla's bug?

Whenever I use google docs, and try to select text, move between headings, format text, or type, my cursor will jump up significantly, either a few lines, or several headings depending on the action being performed. tested in other browsers, only occurs in firefox, and even booting it up in troubleshooting mode does not resolve the issue.

this is the only site where this occurs, so I thought it was an extension, but troubleshooting mode seems to indicate that it's not. Attempting to clear caches and reload the site doesn't work either. Currently using a wireless keyboard and mouse, not on a laptop with a touchpad, so it doesn't seem to be an input issue Like touching a pad indiscriminately. Advice?

I Closed the browser and forgot that I had a private one open too. When I went to open the main Firefox window up, my previous session was wiped! I already tried the right clicking plus sign method to no avail. It just brings up the one I had after searching how to bring back the session and then accidentally closed the browser after. Any tips on how to get it back? Why does this happen just because you have a private window open??? Change that ASAP!

I run several of my Firefox windows in compact sizes, and there are just so many little icons taking up space in the address typing field (what do you call it? It isn't the address bar).

I do not use the Tracker shield. I do not use Padlock "Verified". I do not use "You have granted this website blah blah permissions". I do not use Open in Picture-in-Picture, or the bookmark buttons.

These features, when I need them, I would rather access from somewhere else, like from a menu or with a shortcut key combo.

See the image of how cramped it is with the imo superfluous buttons that for some reason decided they have to live in the text box, preventing me from seeing what I type.

Firefox stopped computer from working in the middle of important file upload to force an update. Now it will not attach any file to email at all, not even a link. Have shut down computer twice to restart and still nothing will attach.

I can't seem to find a way to drag and drop gmail attachment from gmail to my computer. WWhat it does, instead of moving a file, it creates some preview url file.

Is there any way to be able to download the file by dragging it from gmail to my computer?
