Firefox version: 58.0.2 (64-bit) OS: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS

When I open new tab or call some site from bookmarks etc. keyboard seems to not work for a while... I noticed that although cursor seems to be in the in the input item which I clicked with mouse - it actually looks like it moving very rapidly between other input columns. Most obvious it is in gmail - but generally this problem is the same for all newly opened websites. I had to wait for at least 30 seconds but usually more - after this time problem is gone and I can input text without any problems. I tried to google for solution but so far without any useful results....

I have tried resetting Firefox to no avail. Microsoft Edge accesses the same web pages very quickly, so I know it's not my connection. Firefox is taking about 3-5 seconds to resolve a URL, as long as 8 seconds to load a page.

Mozilla is faster than google chrome and whenever i use to browse website mozilla works faster. However i have a website https://bloggerwalk.com which works slows on mozilla as compared to google chrome. Is this a browser issue or my website issue.

When I play the Publishers Clearing House games Firefox keeps freezing. I have to go to Chrome and then it works fine, but I don't like Chrome. Why do I have trouble with Firefox for things like that?

With versions of Firefox later than 34 (or possibly 35 - not sure) attempting to open a page link from an email in Thunderbird and occasionally other sources, results in Firefox 36 and 37 hanging for up to a minute before opening the new tab and page, so I am forced to use 34 to retain smooth operation.

I have not included the Troubleshooting Information as the problem does not relate to the Firefox version currently in use.

So, i tried several things in the troubleshooting articles here in the Support, but none solved my issues.

Basically, after Firefox automatically updated to 40.0.2, the browser hangs a lot on opening and closing tabs, as well loading websites. When not doing anything, the CPU/RAM usage is normal, but opening or closing tabs uses a lot of CPU (most of the time, 100% of the CPU is being used when browsing) and it hangs every time. Scrolling down pages also causes the browser to hang. I tried disabling several plugins and extensions and I even tried using safe mode, but even in safe mode it happens constantly. I'll post the specs of my computer (not big deal), but remember that these issues didn't happen before the update.

Please, did anyone find problems with this new update? What should I do? I've been using Firefox since 2007 and I love it, I'd hate to switch to another one.

Tried refresh, reinstall firefox, no anti-virus program, actually I have no programs, no plugins, no extensions. Added firefox to the windows firewall allowed through list (which I never did with my vista machine) Brand new i5 quad core 3.6khz computer with windows 8.1 All drivers are up to date. It did take 2 weeks to get windows 8.1 finally installed without locking up and having to reinstall for the fifteenth time by disabling all of Microsoft's built in spyware. It's been semi stable for 2 days now. When I install kaspersky av. it adds another couple minutes to firefox launch.

I was really excited about my new suppose to be faster computer but my 10 year old Q6600 2.4khz with vista is way faster and easier to use.  I know I can't be the only one in the world to have this problem.  I've been all over the internet and I see all the problems people are having with windows 8.1. I've got invitation to upgrade to windows 10 but that just locks up the computer again.  Someone, anyone please HELP!

Updated to latest version of Norton. FF hung up ("not responding" msg) every time a new tab was opened. Refreshed FF; now tabs work fine, but FF is extremely slow. Pages that used to takt one second or less to load now take from two to ten minutes.

This happens all the time. I'm typing and it freezes. I hit backspace and it freezes. It takes several seconds up to a minute to 'wake up" and it's totally non-responsive during that time.

Firefox will not load. I installed Kaspersky Internet Security and everything was working fine until it wasn't. I then uninstalled Kaspersky, but Firefox would still not load.

Since I love Firefox I restored my computer to a previous state and that fixed everything, so then I installed a different Kaspersky product and everything was perfect. Now the problem is back again.

I don't know if the problem is on Kaspersky side or Firefox, but I would prefer not to restore again and I have no more troubleshooting ideas.

Firefox starts in Windows safe mode. When I double click on the Firefox icon the mouse indicates FF is loading, but then it doesn't start. Chrome starts fine. Contacted Kaspersky, but their first troubleshooting tip did not work. Under Event viewer I can see crash details for Firefox, but I can't interpret them and I don't know if they are related to FF not loading.

I'm okay with unintelligible Firefox and then reinstalling, but I do not want to lose my bookmarks, themes, add-ons, etc.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

I currently have version 72.0.2 and it is so slow.

I suspected an ISP problem although I have fibre optics but I just have to compare FIreFox with another browser to see that FireFox is the problem.

For instance, on the same site, I can call up a different page in around 5 seconds with FireFox whereas the same change of page takes well under 2 seconds with the Avast Browser.

Opening 3 tabs simultaneously in FireFox when I launch it takes YONKS whereas it used to load all 3 pages in a blink.

I already have add ons like "Disable HTML5 Autoplay" installed to speed up things.

What is the solution please?

It is nothing in particular, but every since updating to Firefox 44.0.2, everything is hanging and the graphics messing up much quicker in my session. Even typing this, the cursor hangs and has to catch up. I don't know what kind of patch this was, as an update to 44 appeared just earlier last week, but it's made things terribly slow. Who else is having this problem?

I have a new HP Intel Core2duo computer that has 4 gigs of ram with Windows 7 64bit and the video card reads Quatro 1500FX. While typing anywhere on the net (search bars, forms, logins, emails...etc) it will hang for a minute or two and then slowly add each letter that was typed. This causes the screen to freeze until it's done. It's incredibly annoying. It looks like it only happens in Firefox, I've reset Firefox but it hasn't helped. I tested in IE and it seems fine. I prefer using Firefox though. No malware or viruses found either as my computer is still new. Doesn't happen offline at all, I usually have to write in notepad first and copy & paste into whatever I'm doing online to avoid the problem. This happened on my other computer too, exact same machine except that one has 7 gigs of ram but when I deleted an add-on and reinstalled it, it seemed to do the trick. Things I've already tried for this computer are...

-Complete system scan for adware and malware -Resetting Firefox -Uninstalling Firefox and re-installing -Clearing cache and cookies -Un-checking "use hardware acceleration" in the options menu -Disabling all add-ons and plugins

I know it's a Firefox issue because every other browser works just fine. I've posed on numerous forums and no one knows what to do about it. Any help/suggestions would be highly appreciated, thanks.

I use Windows 7. The problem started when Kaspersky beefed up its security yesterday, I've tried Safe start with extensions disabled but it makes no difference. I also have Malwarebytes running in the background. I've tried to uninstall this several times but am unable to do so. I have no other extensions active as far as I can see, and in fact the Kaspersky one was already disabled.

Firefox has been my browser of choice for about 6 years. On 3/16 /15 it stopped working. I tried all of the suggestions. I then completely uninstalled Firefox and Mozilla Maintenance. I restarted and checked my disks and memory. All other browsers: IE, Safari, Chrome & Opera work fine. I installed from Firefox Setup 36.0.3.exe this morning. Same problem. Works for about 5 minutes and then hangs.

Firefox hangs. Doesn't give a clean crash. Doesn't give report. Cannot restart. Removed completely (even Mozilla Maintenance) and re-installed: same problem.

What can I do?

Firefox 40.0.3 will not start or open. I Uninstaller and put on 36.0.3 and it runs. Once I go to the About tab it automatically downloads the latest version. Then when I click on the Firefox icons nothing happens. I have repeated this process several times with the same results. XP Pro SP3

I have 3 PC's that have all been upgraded to W10, and all 3 have FF as their default browser (2 PC's home built the other is a Samsung Series 7). On all 3 of these PC's FF hangs for no reason, and even more baffling they all seem to hang at around the same time. Most often I will minimize FF and walk away from the PC only to come back later and not be able to access FF. When that happens the FF window is almost slightly blurry and the only buttons available in the window are minimize and close.

Yesterday I updated 2 of the PC's to FF 40.0.3 but FF still hung in less than 24 hours. The other PC is running FF 28. The only thing these 3 PC's have in common is that they've all been upgraded to W10 and they share some of the same add-ons. Any suggestions on troubleshooting this? I did try disabling Flash but that did not resolve the issue.

Hi I saw the article about getting firefox to use less resource but I have no extensions or addons and removed flash entirely really bare bones vanilla firefox version 43 - its killing me. Using up to 90% CPU and hits over 411K memory - nothing else really running closed everything I could in task manager except what won't close or needed to keep things running and a few web pages open - locks me up. Thanks

Unlike other posters who describe crashes while trying to stream Netflix due to Silverlight issues, the movies will in fact stream, but so slowly they are unwatchable. The audio keeps going but the video freezes and then skips. This has only begun to happen with the last 1 or 2 Firefox updates, and the last update is what has made Netflix unusable. I've spoken to Netflix tech support and their suggestion was to install Google Chrome and use it to stream Netflix. I will do this if I must, but would prefer Firefox if you folks can come up with a fix for this.

I've tried both version 40 and 42. Every time I try to load a webpage, Firefox quits responding part way through. I've gone through add-ons. I went through all the help articles and nothing worked.
