Hello everyone. Well, I've been using Firefox for a few months, maybe a semester now, I don't remember. But the point is that since yesterday I have been facing a serious problem of not being able to download any type of file (MP4, PDF, .JSON, ISO, etc.). I've already used the troubleshooting mode and I've also restarted my laptop, but it didn't help. I've also gone to the advanced settings (see 'about:config > browser.download') and reset/deleted the data for each command but the problem still persists.

What happens is the following: I click to download the file in question, however, nothing happens other than the page loading that commonly occurs when downloading something. Still, the file does not appear in the downloads tab and there is not even the option to choose where to save the file (e.g. Downloads folder, Documents folder). The download simply appears to have failed.

Exactly, it 'appears', because today I discovered that all my downloads were being directed without my permission/action to the 'downloads' folder (And that's not where I want them to go). The problem would be smaller if only this happened, as I would then just get the files downloaded there and then change to the desired folder, thus trying to move forward despite the problem. But the downloaded files themselves are not operational, they have the icon when a file is still downloading, in addition to not having a name, everything being just a cluster of codes.

In the end, there are files, large and small, that have no use and that I don't even have control over where to direct them. Which is still a huge problem because I still technically can't download anything from the browser. Please, I really need your help on how to resolve this problem.

Note: Also, when I close and open the browser, the first download I try appears in the downloads tab, but it fails instantly and cannot be resumed, making it an eternal failure.

Hello, after updating Firefox to v.119 a couple of issues have developed that I can’t seem to resolve.

First of all the Firefox logo has disappeared from my home page. To show what I mean here are some screenshots: The 1st one shows what I see when I open the browser as normal - as can be seen I have several extensions normally in use so the 2nd image shows Firefox opened in ‘Troubleshoot’ mode.

Both these two were taken with the Privacy & Security settings set to ’Strict‘, the 3rd image shows ‘Troubleshoot ’mode with Privacy & Security set to ‘Standard’. ~~~ Now onto the subject of fonts; I’ve done some searching around and even with the Privacy & Security settings customized to ignore fingerprinting, Firefox still ignores my font-setting preference, which is FreeSerif, usually at 14 or 16pt size. Despite me unchecking the setting to allow websites to use their own fonts I cannot get any page to load using my preferred font. This causes me problems as I suffer from a particular type of astigmatism which makes san-serif fonts difficult to read.

Hello there. I'm used to pressing Super(Win key) + Grave(`) to type "`" because the Grave key itself is a global shortcut for opening the terminal window. It works as expected in the other applications, but not in Firefox input fields. If the site is capturing the key presses, it will handle the super + key as usual. For example, GitHub will surround the selected word with ` symbols on grave key press. This problem is not limited to super + grave, but any other letter. For example, Super + q is expected to produce the letter "q", but in Firefox it produces nothing.

I'm trying to identify why the Super + key behavior in Firefox is different from other systems and if I should open a bug or not. Maybe this is the same bug as https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1626609. Thunderbird has the same problem.

Steps to reproduce: 1. Open youtube 2. Open any video 3. Hit back and navigate to youtube main page 4. Press media key play/pause on keyboard

Expected result: nothing happens Actual result: the sound from the video continues on the tab with youtube main page, the tab has "PLAYING" on it

Hello Good People,

I installed Firefox a few days ago and it was looking good. I don't like that icon in the top-left hand so I right clicked it and removed it. All was good. However, today there is a blank black space in the corner as if the icon was back (but without an actual icon). It's only a small thing but it bugs me. I want the tabs to be shifted all the way over to the left like they have been up to today. It's triggering my OCD. Anyway, any advice appreciated.

When the little yellow man is placed on to the map, and a direction arrow is clicked, the view just continues to spin round. Clicking on the 'X' in the top right hand corner terminates street view. This does not happen with other browsers.

My OS is Debian 12, Firefox is the latest version 115.9.1esr (64bit).

Since snap firefox keeps crashing somehow, it just hangs.. i cleared cache and all, reinstalled it, but still.. ?

This is for https://outlook.live.com where I cannot access my full list of folders. I am using Firefox on Linux (in Fedora 34) and my scrolling feature hasn't been working for a few days now. When I search for an email in one of the inaccessible folders, the folder does appear.

As an idea... I added https://outlook.live.com to the pop-up exemptions, no luck.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I've looked for solutions, some had weird MTU settings, some needed to enable hardware acceleration in Chrome, but haven't found a solution that works. Created a new profile to try that out, but still no dice.

I can do a test recording in Google Meet, which displays my video just fine, but when playing back, it's just a black screen, and that is also what happens if I share my screen. Participants get a lot of black.

I've been using Firefox with Google meet for many years, and never had this problem before. I did report the issue in Meet, but it's not likely to attract much attention from Google.

Suggestions much appreciated.

Ive tried down loading all the required packages; I have the latest FireFox available ;but still get the message on you tube to update to latest Fire Fox. On Ubuntu 18.04the same message but includes a error code 99,999.

Hi I have been using firefox on linux for a while without updating it. We are artsellers and I used to be able to log in and out of an artplatform without any problems. It's now been a few weeks since logging out is not possible any more on this platform which means that I am constantly logged in which I really do not want. The menu does not work anymore on this side whereas it works with other browers. I already contacted the platform. They cannot do anything about it themselves and asked me to contact your team. I'm running Firefox 123.0.1 on Linux Mint 21.2. Something changed after my last update. I visit a number of web sites at which I scroll down a window to a link, click on it to open it, read that link, and then return to the previous page. Examples are news sites like slashdot.org, associated press, or arcamax. Firefox used to return to the place in the original site page where I had clicked on a link. Now, it returns to the top of the original site page, and I have to scroll down again to where I had clicked on a link. I can right click on a link, open a new tab, and then close that tab, but that requires multiple clicks, and I used to just click/click. Is there a way to set up Firefox to go back to the previous behavior? Thanks in advance. ;

After some time of idle, i.e. leave the computer for some time, say over night. No suspend or hibernate. Back to the computer next morning, unlock. Then Firefox appears frozen/hang, can't switch tab (clicking tab has no response, but not really frozen, sometimes responses after dozens of seconds of lag), page also has no response. Then after around half to 2 minutes, everything back to normal.

During the "hang", CPU load is load, no memory stress (swapping/paging).

Environment:

Firefox 123.0 (64-bit), (actually it bothered me for years)

Linux 6.6.15-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.6.15-2 (2024-02-04) x86_64 GNU/Linux

Hello, Firefox keeps crashing every 1 or 2 minutes. thats a new Endeavouros installation and firefox was pre-installed. system is fully updated.

I'm trying to create a Drag & Drop file feature in my web page following this doc https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/HTML_Drag_and_Drop_API/File_drag_and_drop

The dropHandler function works as expected the first time I tried to drop a file into a "drop area" div, but then does not work anymore. In all subsequent calls, the drop event is triggered but there is no file in

`` event.dataTransfer.items // empty event.dataTransfer.files // empty ```

This behavior is the same in Troubleshoot Mode.

I've been using Chrome for a long time, and I've been slowly switching over all my bookmarks, passwords, etc to Firefox. I'm running Linux mint for context.

Every time I open Firefox, it opens the home tab, and after a second or two it opens Mozilla Rally in a new tab, and it drives me ABSOLUTELY BONKERS, because I get halfway through typing in a website, and I'm redirected to this new tab I care nothing about, and for some reason cannot get rid of it in the minimal startup settings that actually exist.

That's some straight up Microsoft Internet Explorer sh!t there, and yes that was meant as an insult.

I have not been able to find any reference or any way to make that not happen, and it is seriously making me consider abandoning Firefox entirely. Don't make me go back to Chrome.

I am suddenly getting the following error message: "We recommend you use a different browser or disable the “EasyList Cookie” filter from your “Content Filtering” settings (found under “Settings” -> “Shields” in the Brave Browser)." Firefox is now unusable. I have searched "Settings" and can find nothing about "Content Filtering," "Shields," or "Brave Browser." Can you tell me what is going on here?
