My laptop Fiirefox has a tiny white bar at the top with the X, minimize and maximize commands. How do I make that go away? (Or come back, if I need it to.) I need the real estate on the laptop, if for no other reason than to shut Messenger down on FB. Presently, I can't access the X to close it. Presently have Win10 on an Acer Spin 3. I want the Firefox suggestions to show up when I click on the address bar. Currently, it shows up only when I type a letter. I am unable to find the settings for it. I know it's a silly query, but would still appreciate it if it could be answered.

I have Windows 10 with current maintenance and current version of Firefox.

Don't know what the address bar is called, but I believe it once had a download icon. Am I mistaken?

Sometimes after I enter an address there will be an icon where I can download something. Is this website-dependent?

When Firefox connects to AMAZON, you do not show full access like other browsers, like Google Chrome or MS Edge. In particular, you do not have access to "sizes" and subliminal access to prices like Google Chrome or MS Edge

I'm trying to set the download location to a different drive, containing the current username. For example, if my username is Brett.Michaels, I want my default download directory to be G:\brett.michaels. Other browsers have a variable that is usable like {user_name} however I can only find reference to {home} for Firefox, which does not allow me to alter the drive. I've tried using Windows-based environment variables to no avail. Perhaps I'm missing something?

Hi. Everytime I'm looking for something on Google, my search is automatically redrressed to the Bing page through "clickcrystal.com". I cancelled Bing as a search engine from the Firefox list but I can't find "clickcrystal.com". I think it's a sort of malware. I also tried to find it through "CleanmyMac" but no results.

Can someone help me please?

How come that we are in 2023 and we still do not have major features like Chrome's Profiles or Orion Browser's Profiles.

For example, Orion Browser creates an app per profile and this allows MacOS users to customize each app with a different icon. This seems small but on a taskbar we can differentiate the instances faster.

Why is that the best option for managing profiles in Firefox is the Firefox Profile Switcher, a third-party tool supported by a community member?

Will this ever be addressed? Firefox is better than the others in so many things but, for example, even Safari implemented Profiles now.

To be clear: containers are NOT the same thing as profiles and profiles still have an usage. For example, my work profile has no syncs, different extensions and stricter configurations than my personal profile and this cannot be done with containers.

This morning the add-on 'Search By Image' has ceased working. I use it daily, it worked yesterday, and so far as I know there have been no updates to FF or SBI or Windows.

To test I tried removing SBI and re-adding it, and disabling Malwarebytes.

I disabled SBI and installed "Image Search Options". ISO works, though I prefer SBI.

Win11, FF is now 119.0, but it auto-updated when I went to check so I do not know what it was when the problem began this morning. I have not restarted, I have too many tabs open at the moment.

This is also happening to a different PC that is Win10/FF, but never had Malwarebytes installed. SBI still does not work after restarting FF v119.0 in Win10.

Any ideas on how to diagnose this?

I want set my new tab page to open a local file. The same local file is also used for my home page. Until recently, I used the new tab extension to do this, however that stopped working.

There are many existing posts out there regarding this, so it seems it is a desired feature. However, none of the posts are applicable to the latest configuration 119.0 (October 2023).

Is there a way to force the new tab to open a local file? Or open the home page (which is also a local file)?

For the last several years I have had Firefox configured to display all website fonts in my custom font, Dyslexie. As of upgrading to v119 yesterday, I have lost this function; all websites now display their native fonts. I still have Firefox Settings Default Font set to Dyslexie, but it no longer works. Any help would be appreciated.

I would like you to stop displaying notifications of incoming emails while I'm reading my other emails. These notifications block what I'm trying to read and they are irritating and annoying.

In older versions (say, Firefox 85 which I have been happily using until now) you could enter the search shortcut (say, "y" for youtube), then just press enter without entering any search terms, and be brought to the main page of that search engine. In fact, search engine definition file has a specific field for that feature.

Well, I'm on FF 119 now and I find that this behaviour is broken. You MUST enter search terms now.

Is there a way to fix this pointless change, or do I have to downgrade?

I have two PCs, both running the same versions of Firefox for years. A little over a year ago, after an update, a new "Private" icon appeared in my taskbar in addition to the normal Firefox icon on one of my machines, but not the other one. This presented, and functioned as two different, independent browser applications; I could just click on the private browser icon to open the private browser without opening the "regular" Firefox. I don't know where this came from, but I like it... but it never changed on my other PC, and I can't find how to apply it; is there a setting or something I'm missing? Why did it happen automatically on one machine, but not the other?

The New Tab page includes some shortcuts by default, including Amazon Search (see "@amazon" in the attached picture), which I dismissed shortly after installation. (The only options are "Pin/Unpin" and "Dismiss".)

However, I want to create such shortcut for another search engine, like https://duckduckgo.com/?q=%s&iax=images&ia=images and I don't see the option - even if I set the URL to include "%s" and the name of the pinned shortcut begins with "@", as with smart keyword search and the Amazon search shortcut, respectively.

I am an advanced user and don't mind manually editing files in my profile folder (after I back it up of course).

I am not able to navigate websites per the ADA Accessibility requirements using my FireFox browser. I have tested the same websites in Chrome and the TAB key is working correctly, but in my instance of Firefox it does not. I have a colleague who tested the same website in their Firefox browser and they are not experiencing a problem navigating the website using their keyboard TAB key.

I am on a Mac with most recent FF installed. Colleague was on a PC and tested in FF.

How can I get FF to work correctly on my Mac?

I downloaded and installed Atkinson Hyperlegible and set Firefox to use it as my default font for all websites (see screenshot). This used to work, but now fonts on sites are shown in a default serif or sans-serif font, not the font I set. It stopped working maybe a month ago (October 2023).

What can I try to fix this?
