On a brand new profile for Firefox without configuration of any kind I get an AI chatbot in the sidebar and AI tabs suggestions.

Why?

Is Mozilla looking to destroy decades of good will?

Anything like this should be something you have to opt-in to see, not try and opt-out of.

If privacy is a true concern then any of that stuff should be an extension, and not something on by default.

I really don't understand why Mozilla is doing this.

I'm trying to disable the alt + t shortcut in firefox and having absolutely no luck. I've searched for answers and all of the ones I've found haven't worked. I tried the about:config "ui.key.menuAccessKeyFocuses" set to true option and hiding the menu bar. Neither work. Is there anything that would work for me?

Hi, I unchecked something in my settings and I don't know what I did to cause when I right click to copy something there is no copy and a lot of the rest of the options are no longer there as well. Can you tell me what to do to repair this? It doesn't give me the option to take a screen shot either or I would show you what's left in that popup box. It only give me "Ask an AI chatbot" and the "translate".

With Firefox 144, there is unasked for/unwanted AI introduced. How do I ensure that all AI is completely disabled in my browser? I found a link describing some settings, but want to confirm this will disable ALL AI in the browser. I don't want it, don't trust the privacy/security holes yet to be found and would prefer it was not included in Firefox to begin with. The list I've found is:

• user_pref("browser.ml.chat.shortcuts", false);

Will this do it? What about:

Do I need to clear that field to ensure I don't get some auto opt-in in the future as more and more of this "stuff" is put into the browser?

Why not leave Firefox as a security/privacy conscious browser and put out a separate AI browser (FirefoxML?) for those that are not as concerned. How does Mozilla ensure that no information is leaked through AI from sessions for professionals that must protect physician/patient, attorney/client information or other legally confidential information?

Is there a button I push or a feature I enable to make sure that I'm opted-out of any future updates that include AI 'features'? Or should I switch to Vivaldi now and save time?

I need to know how I can stop my overflow bar from appearing whenever I click off and then back onto FireFox.

Steps to recreate starting in FireFox: 1. Click on an application other than FireFox 2. Click back on FireFox and then the overflow menu appears 3. Click anywhere on your FireFox window and it vanishes until step 1 & 2 are repeated

I search but did not find any list of environment variables supported by Firefox. Is there such an official list, perhaps groupped by Firefox version, published somewhere?

I am using Mozilla as my default web browswer in Unix environment. It is great... except for a particular behavior of the browser window. When I middle click (MB2) the frame of the window, it doesn't go to the background, like all my other windows. Intead it opens a new tab (when I click at the top of the window). This is very annoying becaue I use MB2 /go to background all th etime. Any idea how to change that behavior and make it consistent with my general unix preference? I host a website, and don't want browsers (particularly Firefox) offering modified versions to others. Is there a header or something I can set webserver-side to disallow Firefox from offering the option?

Hi! I'm on a relatively new to me (refurb) desktop computer running Win 10 Pro (64 bit)* and Firefox 143.0.3.

In the past week both Firefox and Win 10 have updated. I don't know what happened, but now when I boot up or reboot, my computer opens to MS Edge. Yuck!

Every single time I have to reinstall Firefox! Once I do that, all is well again. I have all my bookmarks back, etc.

It also keeps changing my "default to Firefox" browser setting, turning it OFF, while I'm using Firefox. I repeatedly have to keep going in and clicking to make FF to the default browser again.

Why is it doing this? How do I stop it?

Anyway, I know I can't delete Edge or uninstall it. How do I shove it back into the black hole it has lived in until now?

Hi, new Firefox Win 11 user, new laptop, how do I enable main touchscreen gestures, swipe, pinch etc. All other apps, browsers work, so HW / drivers work. Can't find how on user forums, or in settings.

I'm trying to stop Firefox from restoring tabs after I restart my OS. So far, I've done the following:

• Disabled `Startup > Open Previous Windows and Tabs`
• Disabled all extensions
• Confirmed I do not have a `user.js` file
• Set `browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash` to `false`
• Set `browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand` to `false`
• Set `browser.sessionstore.resuming_after_os_restart` to `false` (It was already set this way.)
• Set `browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes` to `0`
• Set `privacy.clearOnShutdown.openWindows` to `true`
• Set `browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo` to `0`
• Set `browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo` to `0`

(I've since reverted the last two and the extension changes after they didn't work.)

So far, Firefox will not restore tabs on application restart (manually closing and relaunching) or on crashing (after sending SIGTERM/SIGKILL), but it still restores tabs after restarting the OS (if I allow the OS to kill it during shutdown). I've seen a couple suggestions to disable history completely, but I do occasionally refer to my browsing history, so I'd prefer a less-drastic approach. Ideally, I just want Firefox to treat the first launch after a shutdown as a normal launch and not apply any special behavior. Any help would be much appreciated!

System: Fedora 42 (Workstation Edition) Running Firefox 144.0.2 on Gnome 48.6-1.fc42
